Sun Bathing

Painted turtle

Yesterday (Friday) was a lovely day and I guess this painted turtle thought so too. It was out sunning itself on a log. My first turtle of 2015!

A real poser, it turned around for a second view

This is the only one I saw but if the weather stays warm enough perhaps I'll see more the next time I visit this marsh.

I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.

  7. He's been waiting a long time for this chance! My own turtle has finally awakened from his hibernation, too.

  8. He really stuck his neck out for you! Nice job...certainly a colorful little critter. Where do turtles go during the winter to keep warm. And don't say "Florida." I'll know you just spoofing me! :)

  23. I'm always thrilled to see the first one of the year - my sightings are in Wychwood park which is shady so may take a while to warm up enough for them!

  31. Wow. A turtle... ours are frozen. And I have a half dozen frozen goldfish, too. I'm so sad. Several frozen and dead frogs. I'll have to think about a heater.
