Target practice
Old windmills not in use often become temptations for boys with rifles. This one is out in the middle of nowhere and so is probably the only thing damaged by guns in this field once frequented by cattle.
The b&w version added later. What do you think?

I love the rustic charm in your shots.

This would look good in black and white. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOther than a few stray jackrabbits. :-(
ReplyDeleteOh I love this old wind mill. Tattered and beautiful. Hug B
ReplyDeleteI love the windmill, even if it has seen it's day.. Great shots. Have a happy day and week ahead!
ReplyDeletethat has certainly seen better day, I agree a black and white shot would look great.
ReplyDeleteCertainly is battered!
ReplyDeleteWow. I guess it's spinning days are over.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking when the bullet hit, it would make it go round... fun but so destructive.. it did make for good camera fodder though
ReplyDeleteThat is a beat up windmill. They make for great photos though.
ReplyDeletei like the rust in the color versions.
ReplyDeleteRather melancholy, but it does make for a good photo op!
ReplyDeleteI like the colour version, EG!
ReplyDeletePoor thing has seen better days.
ReplyDeleteNice photo, but sad to see the windmill in such a state of disrepair.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot for the day -- and there are days when I feel just like the windmill looks!! Fortunately, this isn't one of them!! Hope your week is off to a great start!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that so sad?! I love windmills.
ReplyDeleteLovely eye, you have!
I'm so happy to see colourful flowers, I haven't done B & W photos.
I adore windmills! Some day I'll own a small one, even just for decorative purposes. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh what a shame it's been used for target practice.. I think I like the coloured one this time EG, the rust is tres visually appealing.
ReplyDeleteI like it in the monochrome - not black and white - the best. It shows the rust. Also I am so old that I remember when all there was was black and white and after all this time I'm still a little in awe of 'kodachrome' (which is so much better now than it was at first of course). Anyway a beautiful picture but too bad for this icon to be disintegrating.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of sad to see such old relics in this condition. I guess boys will be boys. Nice shots!
ReplyDeleteGood grief, so you have people practising just like that???
ReplyDeleteWe do not see many of these around anymore...
ReplyDeleteSomething lovely has now become an eyesore. We have lots of windmills around here, but I have never seen any damaged like this. Those boys need some sort of consequences.
ReplyDeleteI really like old windmills. Both versions are nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the old windmill.
ReplyDeleteI prefer color 99% of the time:) Love the quirkiness of this battered windmill!
ReplyDeleteAs long as it's only old relics they use for target practice.
ReplyDeleteBoys look for objects for target practice here too. An old mailbox at my aunt's farm (she been deceased about 25 years) looks similar to the windmill blades. I like the color version best.
ReplyDeletevery nice and rustic, wonder how old it is?
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of the rustic windmill ~ Sad that 'young boys' have to destroy ~ There is beauty in that windmill still!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
Aww, the image makes me sad. Hoped your Mother's Day was simply fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Very rustic, Tina! Nice find.
ReplyDeleteI have seen 'boys' shoot some highway signs in Texas and elsewhere.
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
I love these old relics!
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the pitted rust on the blades. Great shots both in black and white and color version.
ReplyDeleteBored boys have to have something to do.
ReplyDelete(I prefer the colored photo.)
It's a great subject. I think I prefer the colored version. Those faded bits of color help tell the story, a poignant one.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting, wonderful pictures of the windmill, very good the B&W version!
ReplyDeleteI like the middle coloured shot - it smacks of character and tells its own story!
ReplyDeleteOld and broken down, yet a great photo subject.
ReplyDeleteLovely old structure. I even like the bullet holes - they are part of the story too. In fact I prefer the colour versions, with all those rich rust shades.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is the first image
ReplyDeleteThere's an old old truck in the field across the road used for the same purpose. :) I like these photos in colour against the blue sky.
ReplyDeleteoooooo, i love these guys!!! it's hard to pick a favorite....i love the rust in the color one but i think i like the b&w best!!!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Very eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like the B&W version!
ReplyDeleteIndeed an eye-catching sight. Thanks for showing.
