Lake Simcoe at sunset
Today is the last day of a three-day weekend here in Canada. We are celebrating Queen Victoria's birthday, which we celebrate each year on the Monday preceding May 25th. Queen Victoria was born on May 24, 1819, so she is about to be 196 years old.
Lake Simcoe
Actually though, we are celebrating the beginning of summer. (What? What happened to spring?) Traditionally on this weekend, many owners of cottagers open them up for the season, boaters put their crafts into the water, families go on picnics and watch fireworks, gardeners plant annuals....
I suspect that all of this is going on here except for the planting of annuals. Just last week we had a hard frost!

I absolutely love the colors in the sky.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the lake and sky. Memorial Day at the end of this month signals the beginning of summer here. So far "summer" seems a little doubtful as I sit under overcast skies all day.

Dearest EG; I've learned about celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday in your country. I hope you could enjoy your holidays. In Japan, the present Emperor's birthday is our national holiday.
ReplyDeleteStunning photograph of Lake Simcoe; wonderful trip reflection♡♡♡
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend, xoxo Miyako*
Sounds great that you are having a wonderful trip in Canada! Stunning shots!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous shots.
ReplyDeleteTwo very beautiful images EG, the weather seems to be all over the place everywhere these days!
ReplyDeleteWe live in our cabin year round, so we didn't have to open it for Victoria Day. But we did see lots of our neighbours returning the week before to get things all ready to go. We've had a mild winter so there is a lot more lake activity than years before. - Margy
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous shots, EG!
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot, stunning..

ReplyDeleteFantastic sky! Yes, what happened to spring? The weather has been so beautiful here in Virginia. Spring is still trying to hang around here. I don't mind that at all because summer is very hot and humid here.
