Log barn
In our travels around central Ontario, my husband and I have discovered many treasures that may soon disappear. One of those is this old log barn, now abandoned.
Long shot of barn
Although the barn is not in use, the land around it it still is. I walked up a bumpy dirt road to take these photos but clearly the road had recently been used by farm vehicles.
Open door
I was curious. Would you be? Yes, it was naughty but I confess I did venture through that open door.
From inside
It was dark but not as much as I had predicted as...
Through the roof
lots of light was coming from above.

Poor old barn. It looks like it has been abandoned for a very long time. Great photo all around.
ReplyDeleteVery nice collection really. Not too good to see in this conditions but personally I very like such old buildings due to their special athmosphere. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteCheers from sunny and very hot (+35C) Budapest.
Really great rustic shots. Barns always have a great charm in images.

What an amazing building!! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat series on this old barn. I love the weathered wood and rusty roof! Happy Monday, have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteNice photos Camera Girl. Log barns are rare.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad to see all those barns abandoned...once full of life, and now...
ReplyDeleteIt is sad...

ReplyDeleteWhat fun to go exploring.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. I love the patina of the grey wood. Too bad they are not kept up but I think the metal barns are a lot less maintenance but they are not as photoworthy.
ReplyDeleteHere in Oklahoma the tall grass would be full of chiggers and ticks.
Gosh you were brave to go in EG, looks like it's ready collapse in the next breeze :) Beautiful series of images.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!!I like it.
ReplyDeleteIf i owned it I would leave it there because to me it is a work of art, even in the state it is in. thanks for the inside pics.. love the hole in the roof..
ReplyDeleteIt's a little sad to see a forgotten barn, and yet so beautiful.

I would have been afraid to go in for fear that it would collapse on top of me!
ReplyDeletea rare find!
ReplyDeleteOh very cool. I would have stopped too.
ReplyDeleteMakes for wonderful photo's but it looks like it is about to come down any minute.

I would like to explore one of these...
ReplyDeleteOne wonders how long it'll last.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that this was a magnificent looking place in it's early life. Now getting old and wearing out. I can relate to that.
ReplyDeleteThis is, in some way, a shame as log structures are so unique and so beautiful. I think this is almost beyond hope, though!
ReplyDeleteCool old barn. I would salvage some of the boards for furniture making.
ReplyDeleteWonderful captures of that great, old barn! Don't you wish it could talk and share its history!! Like Judy, I can relate to "getting old and wearing out"!! Hope your week is off to a great start!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteSad to see but it looks like it is past the point of no return!
ReplyDeleteI definitely would have wandered in too! You can always apologize later. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice shots of that old tumble-down barn.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the logs!
ReplyDeleteThat must've been quite a barn in its heyday. Not often you see a barn built with logs like that. It's really beautiful even in its decaying state.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. The 4th one makes me feel very nostalgic as it reminds me of old, but serviceable and in decent repair, barns that I frequented when I was young. The one in the photo is falling apart, but 50 years ago it would still have had animals in it.
ReplyDeleteYou found a natural skylight!!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteA very photogenic barn, well done you for going inside. I particularly like the first inside picture...
ReplyDeletei love the hole-y roof. i am going to look at your blooms below. great beautiful times i see. have a nice week. ( :
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images of a lovely old barn! How I would love to know its story!
ReplyDeleteLove the close up shots of the wood on that barn. A real nice looking barn.
ReplyDeleteGlad you went in!

I applaud you for two things about this post, Tina:
ReplyDelete1) your passion to find new things to post about
2) your courage to go into an abandoned, decrepit barn
The photos are exquisite!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Sad but it made for some beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful find!
ReplyDeleteLovely old sad barn. A log barn at that. One wonders exactly how old it is and what stories it could tell. I got a little catch in my throat looking at it. Excellent shots.

Interesting find, very nice pictures of the old barn!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing old barn! I'm not sure I've ever seen one constructed that way. It's a shame to see it dying. It looks as if it was stout and solid in its day.
ReplyDeleteGreat series! I like the old wood. Soon it will no longer be there, but you have given it a monument in your photos.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been a lovely barn once upon the time.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, but I fear a good storm could just about see this barn off!
ReplyDeletea good price for sale
ReplyDeleteWe had a barn near where I live. It was in shambles like this.
ReplyDeleteGreat takes.
We see so many abandoned barns in our travels, sad but oh such beautiful photos. Brave you, thanks for sharing.
