Harvested cranberries and tree reflections
Ten days ago my husband and I visited a Muskoka cranberry marsh. The weather and foliage were beautiful and bonus - the cranberries were being harvested. In the photo above you can see cranberries ready to be cleaned, dried and sorted.
Sightseeing "train" and reflection
Busloads of tourists visit this marsh every October and part of the package includes a ride on this "train" to see the bogs up close and hear about the growing and processing of cranberries.
FYI: My husband and I are

Lovely photos! We've visited one of these in Wisconsin and they truly are interesting to tour!
ReplyDeleteIt is neat seeing the cranberries. Great shots. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe get our cranberries from Wisconsin every year but have never seen them being harvested. The process is beautifully photographed.
ReplyDeletesounds fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to have frugal fun... bonus: we get to go along with you and enjoy the beauty!
ReplyDelete"Frugal" is a much better word! Nothing wrong with it at all.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! You made the best of your trip there & a beautiful place it is too! I love cranberries & would thoroughly enjoy a tour of it.
ReplyDeleteBelas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim de semana.
Lovely captures! Never seen cranberry harvesting captures before.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots but I would have wanted to go round in that 'train'.
ReplyDeleteI like your and hubby's style EG, I'm not into group tours either :) Love cranberries, so good for you!
ReplyDeleteI would do what you did...I have never wanted to do things in a group where I couldn't go at my own pace.
ReplyDeleteOH, these pics are really beautiful! Loving the color and reflections and just the feel of them.
Beautiful shots! I do like cranberries in certain things, like muffins.
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming this is in Bala, given that they have a festival up there for cranberries.
Beautiful shots indeed, as always, EG!! And, yes, I love cranberries, too!! I do hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Enjoy -- camera in hand, of course!!
ReplyDeleteThat is something I have never seen and it looks quite interesting! I'd be with you & your husband walking on our own. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGives you a greater appreciation for food when you see the labor involved in getting it to your table.
ReplyDeleteFirst time I see cranberries on a "raft"! :-) Beautiful place and photos too.
ReplyDeleteLove the word frugal:) Oh I have never seen this live, someday I will though. Nice shots. Hug B
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. I would be cheap I mean frugal too. Love the photos, so beautiful!

how neat! bring on the cranberry sauce! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Definitely into the frugal way to enjoy scenery. Fascinating views of the cranberry processing.
ReplyDeleteBy being frugal you got to hear what the workers had to say, which was probably much more authentic than what the "train engineer" told his tour group.
ReplyDeleteFascinating pictures.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Massachusetts has many cranberry marshes, but for some reason I have never been there at the right time to see a harvest.
ReplyDeleteSo, you are cheap? A new insight.
I like seeing the cranberries in their environment. Beautiful images!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you got a bag of juicy cranberries to freeze to go with the Christmas turkey!
ReplyDeleteI don't like cranberries, but I do like the pic of that little 'train'.
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen them like this though I like them in my homemade muesli! :-) These are magnificent photos!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, because I have only seen one cranberry bog in my life and it was in the dead of winter when nothing was going on, but I have always been fascinated by them. The harvesting in the water and the whole thing.
