I am of the age where I no longer give a damn what people think about colors clashing or other nods to cultural gods. Wear white all year 'round. Paint your car pink. Your particular ideas when it comes to such things are just as valid as anyone else's. You are right on with this photo!
No, they don't clash. When all is said and done, I don't think any colors clash...just look at nature and see all the colors that 'go together' and are beautiful.
I love your photo! Because the centers of the flowers pick up the color of the pumpkin, I think this is a great combination of colors, and even if the centers weren't that color, the colors would go together. I've seen fabric combining these colors too.

Orange and Pink, sure they go together. Later, when the crepe myrtle leaves turn orange while they still have their pink blossoms.
