The Roxy, Uxbridge, Ontario
The Roxy is a restored movie theatre that shows first-run movies at reasonable prices. I confess that I have never been inside this theatre but those that have say it's clean, comfy and serves the best popcorn ever.
Situated in the centre of town with lots of parking behind the theatre
I am joining ABC Wednesday HERE
Interessante este belo ecolorido edifício.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
Hello, what a neat movie theater. It reminds me of the theater in my old home town. Great shots. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteNice. Another icon from Uxbridge. I am like you. Never been inside but I keep thinking about going there some day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful old building. Sometimes I think at one point every town of any size had a "Roxy" theater. Wonder where that name came from
ReplyDeletereally cute. glad it is fully functioning.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice so see this. We've got a restored theater in Ocala, too, but it's been a struggle keeping it going. Hopefully, this one will be a success.
ReplyDeleteRe your comment on Ocala: Yes, actually there were a lot of boats out on the water that day, so the marina looked almost vacant.
Well I love the outtside style of the cinema
ReplyDeleteI would be in there like a flash EG.. Art Deco is my fav archaeologist period. You might have to go in to a movie just to get some pics for us :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I meant architectural period right :)
ReplyDeleteLove those old Art Deco designs. Theatres like this one are slowly being closed because of the super max theatres which I avoid at all costs.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely old-fashioned, but still eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteI also love the Art Deco style. This is lovely!
ReplyDeleteClassic theatre! I think it's great they have retained its original look.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool old theatre. And 2 good movies playing as well. I imagine it looks very nice inside.
ReplyDeleteI love this old kino, it' looks so nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteI do love the old theaters and this one does look like a great one!! Ah, nostalgic indeed!! Hope you have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute building! Love that.
ReplyDeleteI like its style!
ReplyDeleteI can smell the popcorn right now!
ReplyDeleteGotta a great name. Meet you at the Roxy. :-)

I love the feel of this place...it actually makes me want to go to it to see a movie. I cannot even remember the last movie we went to see, but I think it was Seabiscuit.
ReplyDeleteUsed to be lots of Roxy cinemas in the UK but only a handful have survived.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great art deco building! xx
ReplyDeleteI like the font too.
ReplyDeleteFrankly My Dear
I enjoyed these photos, great architecture. The old movie theaters are disappearing fast. It's nice to know there are buildings that are being restored.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful Art Deco theater building. Looks like the perfect place to go see first run movies.
ReplyDeleteWe had a Roxy Theater here years ago, but sadly it gone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a little Decco gem!

I like the retro look of the facade.
ReplyDeleteWhen we moved to Carleton Place 10 years ago, there was a theatre in an old church basement. Too bad it didn't last.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you're due for some yummy popcorn.
ReplyDeleteNice they restored the building.
I rarely go into theatres anymore but this one is tempting, especially if it serves the best popcorn ever!
ReplyDeleteNice to see old theatres being used still.
ReplyDeleteLooks like such a cute theater!! I wish I could find a theater that still popped popcorn the "old fashioned way", all our theaters here just bring it in in bags, yuck!!
ReplyDeleteNow go treat yourself to some popcorn and a show!!
Fantastic looking building!
ReplyDeleteWhat a throwback to the fifties' movie houses. I think there has been a Roxy cinema in every country. Thanks for sharing. Jo
ReplyDeleteRoxy is a great name for a theater! Love the vintage sign too.
ReplyDeleteWow! A cool entry for 'R'.
ReplyDeleteHappy ABCW!
Love the Art Deco style!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

Love a cinema. My local independent cinema is also called The Roxy AND also is Art Deco era so the lettering is the same. Two cinemas separated by an ocean;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have seen many movies in there, and I can vouch for the very comfy seats!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name. It carries so much history with it. I love it when cities restore old theaters.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I don't think we have it here
