Grapevines twist themselves as they grow to anchor themselves...and wild ones can be a real pain to cut out of trees and shrubs. Yep, I can tell you all about that!
'The Knot" by Fly Freeman
This is one of several sculptures donated by local sculptors to the Town of Uxbridge, Ontario.
Christmas lights
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I am joining ABC Wednesday HERE
That first shot is excellent and I love the sculpture in the park.

ReplyDeleteYou do like the challenges, and you do very well with them.
ReplyDeleteFantásticas estas formas.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
Do I see a bit of frost on that gnarled grape vine? At first , I thought the sculpture was actually a cut tree. The sculptor really fooled me. And, yes, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
ReplyDeletei like the knot and the grapevines, too.
ReplyDeleteHello, the Knot sculpturer is pretty. I've been seeing the Christmas lights going up too. Cool shot of the twisted grapevines. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to watch out for that twist when I'm in Uxbridge!
ReplyDeleteNeat shot of the grapevine. Living in wine country I bet there are a lot for me to go out and find just like that one.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about photographing the twisty grape vines! They are ubiquitous here!
ReplyDeleteA pain they might be but they make a great photo :) I like 'The Knot' and those Christmas lights are pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love grapevines!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting, if a bit twisted post!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that about grapevines.
ReplyDeletethe sun makes the lights and wire look pretty on that tree and the twisted is amazing

Good samples of Twisted, EG! We had a bit of snow on the ground this am but it is all gone now!
ReplyDeleteSo, you're saying, to drink the wine you've got to untangle the vine? Back about 1960-61 we lived in Scottsdale, Arizona. There was a vineyard a few miles away. You could pick your own red and white grapes - for 5 cents a pound, or you could pay to have them picked and bagged for you for 10 cents a pound.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you find that's the case anymore. :)
BTW, are you making fun of me just 'cause sometimes I get tongue-twisted? ;)
What a great close up of the grape vine. I like the sculpture too. I'm not really ready to think about Christmas but I suppose I'd best get with the program
ReplyDeleteSomeone put up some lights on the tree in front of my building. And it's getting cold here - I'm ready for some holiday action!
ReplyDeleteGosh, what a wonderfully twisted post! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes Christmas is on its way!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic, you even got the frost on it.
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble getting into the Christmas thing.
All tied in knots.
ReplyDeleteI am tying knots, putting a dummy warp on my loom. Almost 500 of them, - I don't like to contemplate knots, but admire your grapevine.
ReplyDeleteSo twisted! And observant of your surroundings.
ReplyDeleteExcellent T post!
ReplyDeleteMy ABC WEDNESDAY
Great idea, EG!

Oh,I love the twisted vines.
ReplyDeleteI really like your concept - BUT, now my mind is playing "Twisted" by Joni Mitchell . . . (seems my thinking has given your blog a soundtrack today . . . ha!! unintended collaborative effort . . Great photos, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI too thought of Joni. And Chubby Checker.
ReplyDeleteROG, ABCW
My mom and dad used to have grapevines in the back yard. When they would trim the vines after summer, they would twist the stems into wreaths to decorate for the holidays. Guess that's twisted twists. - Margy
ReplyDeleteI love those twisted knots of nature!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are a giant pain! I like the shot- is that frost?
ReplyDeleteI love The Knot and those Christmas lights...but that grapevine is possibly the most beautiful of the three.
ReplyDeleteA great series of images.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe Christmas is almost here again EG, where did the year go? Love the natural twist of the grapevine.
ReplyDeleteTerrific Twisting of the vine, I love the sculpture too.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
