Unpainted barn and old silo
The barn is not what attracted my eye. The silo did. The roof on the silo is not a common style in my area, although it may have been at one time as there are many old silos around without roofs.
Closer look at the silo
If anyone knows more about this type of silo, I'd love to know more.

You are on to something here Camera Girl. Most barn silos have a dome shape to them.
ReplyDeleteLindo silo! Adorei! bjs, chica
ReplyDeletethe roof on the silo could be the hat off of The Tin Man on the yellow brick road. i have not seen a roof like that either..
ReplyDeleteI thought exactly the same as Sandra above re the tin man hat :) Looks like this o!d barn may still be in use EG.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome homestead. =)
ReplyDeleteYes, you don't orten see the old small silos with the roof still intact.
ReplyDeleteThat's not a silo! That's more of a fortress and that window up there is to shoot anyone encroaching on your land.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed by the size of the house in the background!
These silos are so big!
ReplyDeleteyep...needs some paint...and a few new boards.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures as always, but like you, I've never seen a silo with a roof like this one!! Intriguing!! Enjoy your day and have a great new week!!
ReplyDeleteThe siol would have caught my eye as well...love it!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteIr rather looks like an inverted funnel. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteExcelente trabalho.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim de semana.
The first I saw the silo I thought of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. I guess others did too. Interesting.

Does have a kind of tin man quality to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this lovely farm and the "SNL Conehead" silo. I hope that you continue to find more great rural scenes in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to start paying more attention to silos!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great day!

I've never seen a silo like that before.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that the silo seems to be missing a ladder on the side...unless it's on the other side!
ReplyDeletevery cool, old-fashioned look.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting and rugged sights from the countryside.

I half read every comment to see if anyone had any info about it. There are some silos that are just plain beautiful, and others, like this that I wish I knew more about.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely scene, though, too.
What a nice old barn!
ReplyDeleteCool silo with little window! Nice barn images
ReplyDeleteLowell's comment made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the roof looked like an upside down funnel.
:0)
I just love your barns and the interesting silos they have. I always look forward to seeing them. This is a grand silo and that roof is something else. So unusual. We never see anything like it here in VA.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool. Not sure if I can remember seeing anything like this.
ReplyDeleteI've seen some like this. I must collect the photos!
ReplyDeleteIt looks almost like a dovecote!
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting pointed roof.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a pointed roof silo before. Nice barn shot!
