Common mergansers on a Lake Simcoe beach about a week ago

So what do you think these two mergansers are talking about?

Probably discussing the new conditioner they used to get the top knot to stand up so well.

The weather...all conversations with strangers start with the weather ;-D

They're probably discussing the weather...looks pretty chilly to me!

I think they're confused and discussing the last chapter of the "Lost" series...
God bless you!

Great photo! They're so cute with their tuft of feathers on top of their heads. I'd have to say they're discussing weather, as Kaori said.

Try this with a Merseyside accent:
'ello doock, 'ow are yer?'
'Cor blimey, I'm freezin'!'

Love it!

This is really a pretty bird. I have seen none around my area and don't think they are ever here.

I'm telling you, it is YOUR turn to fetch dinner tonight.

How is it I live in Ontario and have never seen/heard of these birds lol

lovely birds!

I would have to say the one on the left is opining about the validity of cold fusion. The on the right is wishing his whole head fit under his wings ;)

I love the head feathers on the mergansers...I would bet they are talking about hoping the water stays open as long as possible...
