Sisters/Camera Critters

Two swans  preparing to...er...sing?

(Note: The third swan swan is in the background, not believing what he/she is about to witness!)

Anyone remember the song about sisters sung by Bette Midler and Linda Ronstadt?

Sisters, sisters
There never were such devoted sisters,
Never had to have a chaperone, No Sir,
I'm here to keep an eye on her

Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman cob arrived from Rome
She wore the dress, and I stayed at home

All kinds of weather, we stick together
The same in the rain and sun
Two different faces, but in tight places
We think and we act as one

Those who have seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men cobs have tried to split us up, but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And Lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man cob

Great shot and song reference although you are obviously very young. The "Sisters" song is from the movie "White Christmas" and was done by Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen in 1954 (before we were born too).

So why do I feel like I'm at the ballet? :-)

I love the 'sister' idea. I do remember the song after reading through it. I think this is just an old-fashioned gab fest though. MB

One of your most interesting photos...you really caught them in a great pose! The song I don't know. I do know, however, that many sisters do not get along too well so the song may be somewhat wishful thinking! :-)

Maybe it will be their 'Swan song'......

Jacob is wrong, at least in my case; my sister and I are very different, and don't act as one, but we get along great! :-D I'm a Bette Midler fan, so I had to go find the song and am listening now... fun song, don't think I've heard it before, though! And this is a fabulous shot of these swans... about to break into song... :-D

Lovely photograph! Perfect shot for Camera Critters!

Thanks for your recent comment. Photography has taught me so much about birds. Before photography I would see birds on the water without knowing what they were but when I began photographing them then I had to know what they were. Not only that but having an image made Id easy as I could have the shot up on the screen while flipping through ref guides.

EG Wow,
What an interesting photo. They seem to hold a pose for you. In Nara, sometimes a deer takes a pose for temporally cameramans - visitors, but always alone, not like this. Very precious and rare photo!! I love this.
Have a great weekend.

Wonderful! I love how you've captured the heads of 3 swans in the photo. It makes such a pretty sight with the curve of their lovely, long necks.
