Windsurfing/ Watery Wednesday

Windsurfing on Lake Ontario
Powered by the wind, this guy was heading for shore when I first noticed him all alone out on th lake on a Sunday afternoon.

Windsurfing (also called water boarding) is a cross between sailing and surfing. Skilled windsurfers can perform free-style moves such as jumps, spinning maneuvers, and inverted loops.  But this windsurfer was more of a beginner.

Hanging on...

Windsurfing has a steep learning curve and

OOPS!

...beginners spend a lot of time in the water.

I am linking to Watery Wednesday where you can find many more watery photos.

I believe that water would have to be a few degrees warmer before I'd be tempted!

Oops is right! I got chilled just thinking about being in that water, wet suit or not.

Lake Ontario water is always freezing. Nice sequence of photos.

Now, I know that water had to be a bit cool when he fell in :)

I so miss my lake. Thanks for the photos. Still, enjoying my frog pond!
I love the lilacs, too. We have quite a few trees around. Such a blessing.
Cheers from Perth!
Thank you for visiting my cottage country !

In spite of the way this sequence ended, windsurfing looks like it would be fun. Your photos are great by the way.

Terrific shots! The composition of the photos is great and the colours are beautifully matched.

I tried when I was younger; I confirm, I spent much more time IN the water than ON!..

Great pictures, we are used to see this on the sea!

I have surfed, but never wind surfed. I would guess it takes great strength and a good sense of balance to do this and stay upright. Lovely series of shots.

Re your comment about the geese: If you were to look very closely, you'll notice a wee little head poking above the back of the 2nd geese. I think these are Protestant geese, 'cause they only had the two goslings.

Great captures of the wind surfer. Always fun to watch them, they always seem to have no fear and are at one with the sea, especially when they meet it on head first ;)

Love the photos! I took wind surfing lessons about 25 years ago and it was a blast. Problem was I was living in Phoenix at the time and wind was not that abundent! You are so right about beginners landing in the water.ha!

Love all three photos! When in Hawai'i years ago, my favorite pastime was watching the surfers from a beautiful vantage point. So graceful and so skillful!!

It looks like a lot of fun but I once watched a novice on Lake Tahoe and realized I'd spend all of my time in the water if I tried it.

Oh, I bet that water is cold! No wonder he's wearing a wetsuit!

Lovely progression of shots, i am sure everyone smiled at the end! Sometimes the International Windsurfing Competition is being done in the place i posted today, but i haven't really been near them for photos as they are out in the sea where the big waves are!

Hard to believe a beginner would be out there all alone, but at least you were nearby. Wonderful action photos!
