Late Summer/Nature Notes

Not quite autumn (officially, anyway)

We still have a few frost-free days yet...but it does feel a lot like autumn with cool nights and warm days....and a few days of morning fog.

Largest square: Monarchs are sipping nectar from a butterfly bush blossom (Buddleia). I have seen monarchs in my yard and in many wild places so I'm hoping the population is up all over North America.

Moving clockwise: obedient plant (Physotegia). wild crab apples, mourningcloak on butterfly bush, spotted jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) and willow herb (Epilobium hirsutum).

Fine photo-montage. Especially like the Monarch, and the distribution of colour and tone across the montage is perfect.

You really captured the colors of not quite autumn, the Monarch looks like stained glass.

Beautiful collage! I'm glad you named the obedient plant because I have one and I couldn't remember the name.

How beautiful to see them all together. We still have a lot of butterflies about, but the nights are definitely feeling more autumnal.

Beautiful shots of summers end. The butterflies are so lovely. It's cooling down here too which is a blessing.

Ohoh-wow! What a gorgeous collage! the butterfly down to the right is soooo lovely, with both the light and shadows on it, and it looks transparent in a way.. =)

Goodness gracious, what a LOVELY photographic quilt! Yes, it won't be long before the snow flies. Our Pikes Peak got eight inches overnight! First of the season!
