Muskrat Love/Camera Critters

Muskrat eating lily pads

This muskrat apparently had a hankering for lily pads. For a few minutes I watched it swim from plant to plant, taking a few bites from each. Then it bit one off at the stem and carried it back to its den. I hope it didn't take a frogs favourite lounging place.

I've never seen one of these creatures. I'll bet they're interesting to watch. I certainly never thought about lily pads being part of their diet!

You just can't trust a muskrat, said the frog. Am I related to them, asked the garden-variety rat? Nope, I am, said the politician.

I've never seen a muskrat, what an amazing sight! Aw, it's adorable, even if it's a basically giant rodent :)
