Exploring Central Ontario (CANADA)...and beyond
I love Downies! I have a pair that frequent my feeders. Terrific captures!
Very jealous of the variety of woodpeckers found in other parts of the world. In the UK we have just 3, one of which you never see.
This is an absolute beauty!
Ohh! She is nice. Super photo!JetteMajken
Isn't she a beauty! You caught her personality and charm right along with her good looks.
Wonderful shots as usual of our birdie friends. I miss my Downies in the States... I don't see them here.

she is a adorable and so pretty and she is in my colors. i am a black and white freak and a little pop of color is good.
they're so darn cute. :)
What a sweet-looking little bird. I like that splash of orange, too. We have red-headed woodpeckers here but I have not an orange-tailed woodpecker anywhere! :)
Lovely little bird!! Hope she will be nesting, soon - the world can do with more woodpeckers...
Your first photo is super cute!

What a sweet little bundle of feathers!!
Great photos, I like that little unexpected splash of orange feathers.Darla
Pretty little bird - and I love the eyes they are full of expression - you have captured them well - Jane UK
Pretty, pretty! I love these birds, too. I never noticed orange on the tail feathers before. I'll have to look for that.
She's such a pretty little creature EG, even if she does look a tad grumpy :)
She's a sweetie. My parents have a pair that visit their suet feeders and they are quite tame - almost like chickadees.
I've had two pairs around here most of the winter. I hadn't noticed the orange on the females tail feathers though. Sweet photos CG.
The downy woodpeckers are such beautiful birds. Great captures.
love the red bits on the tail. so neat!! ( :
A pretty little lady!
The Downy is a cute little woodpecker. You have captured them beautifully :)
It's like we could reach out and touch her! :)
Lots a love for the woodpeckers, you have earned it, the prize EG.
As many times as I've seen these birds, I've never before noticed they had these colored tail feathers. Thanks!
Your bird photos are always so clear, detailed and so very charming. You should frame some of them and offer for prizes. . .hint! hint!
What a cute little bird.
I enjoy the Downies as well. I have never noticed that orange on the tail feathers.
is this a baby bird, you are very observant to see the orang feathers.
Such a cute little fluffy creature. and the touch of orange is like an extra touch of character.
Beautiful even in B&W colors!
HI Lovely to have this little bird at your feeder.
Oh what a sweet little bird!
I don't think we have downies here. I'll have to look in some of our bird books to be sure. She sure is a beauty!
We have Downeys here too. They love the suet feeders. We have the Hairy Woodpecker and I was going to post the sameness and the differences today but got sidetracked. They are the sweetest bird aren't they. MB
She is beautiful!
She's a beauty!

Cute shots of the Downy woodpecker!
I have never seen one but when I see images of this species, it always makes me smile.
