What a cool reflection! This is a lovely lamp post. We have NONE on our street, so it is as black as ink at night.

That first shot looks like a bishop with a mitre walking in procession carrying a prayer book! :)

Love the skinny shadow, well spotted

The shadow looks somewhat abstract as it falls upon the building - I might see it as an amorphous shape before considering it to be a street lamp. A nice capture. Your post prompted me to find out a little about Whitby - it is a nice looking city with a charming feel in its downtown and marina. Although I notice that the nice pictures were taken in the summer - it would look nice with lots of snow too :)

I love lamp posts like these...so much better than just having street lights. That is a skinny shadow.

I would miss my friends most of all, and probably being near an airport. We only have to drive 30 minutes when we pick people up or drop them off. I know there is a lot of stuff I would miss but those are the two that came to mind right off the bat.

Do shadow lamps cast only darkness? ;)

I always think it is funny when shadows make an abrupt turn like this one, where the wall meets the sidewalk...

Ruth Kelly said...

This shadow is much shorter and I agree with another blogger, a strange sharp turn on the sidewalk.
