Female cardinal
Although both a female and male cardinal live in our yard somewhere, I rarely see them except this time of year. They can be amazingly secretive, especially the female. Sometimes I see the male gathering food for the young'uns in late spring but I think the female is already off starting a new family...perhaps with a new lover even. How scandalous! LOL

Wow, you made some wonderful photos!
There are a couple of cardinals here too, he looks so bright against the snow.
such a lovely pair
I haven't seen any cardinals in ages.....we need to move back into the countryside!
Hello, I usually see the cardinal late in the day, it is almost dark. They are usually shy birds. Great shots. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
Very nice shots. The male just pops in the snow.
Belas fotografias.
Gostei.
Um abraço e bom fim de semana.
I'm in awe! These are both gorgeous photos! And that ain't easy capturing subjects in the snow. The colors and detail are magnificent. Kudos to you! Have a great weekend!
this sweet and pretty couple would be nice framed and hung as a set on the wall.
Great shots, incredible colors! Brava!
they are the perfect models, looking pretty gorgeous in the snow!!!
BUT...please pass them a napkin!! hehehehe
Really well done with the pics.

They are such pretty birds to see in the drab winter months. Great photos! Happy Saturday!

The birds are very pretty and your photos very exceptionally crisp - great work.

They're such pretty birds!
Ah, thanks for the giggle to start my day and, of course, I love your photos and particularly that naughty, fickle Mama bird!! Hope you're enjoying a great weekend!!
Great photos, especially with that snowy background. Did ou use a telephoto and/or a remote?
Wow! So beautiful up close!
I love cardinals. My grandma, who is in USA, see these red birds everyday. My grandma often feed cardinals, because it's beautiful bird. I greet! :)
Great to see these beautiful cardinals.
In the Netherlands we have this beautiful cardinals unfortunately.
Greetings, Helma
Cardinals against a snow backdrop is always picture perfect. You've captured perfection here!!! Lovely.
They seem to be such gentle birds just going about their business!
I see them, but I never get such brilliant pictures!

Such beautiful birds!! Wonderful photos of them. xx
they are such beauties, yet we almost take them for granted.
Beautiful birds.I wish a pair of them would decide to make my yard their home.
Both so pretty! I wish they visited me.
These two shots are absolutely delightful to see through your lens.
They are just soooo beautiful. The female is as beautiful as the male, I have come to think.
These are such great shots! We don't have these birds on the West Coast. I had to go to the desert one spring to see them on the wing. The other birders with us couldn't figure out why it was so exciting to see cardinals.
Oih... what a beautiful bird.
E G - beautiful shots as usual - I think the cardinals are so gorgeous - the nearest bird with plumage that colour in the UK is our bullfinch I get one on our feeders now and again - Jane and Bluey UK x
Beautiful images! Now you have me wondering if cardinals are birds that mate for life. LOL
I do love cardinals, and I rarely see the females for some reason. Or maybe they are just less noticeable. It would be cool to capture a pair together, wouldn't it? Next to impossible, I should think, though if anyone could do it, you would be the one.
=)
I've never seen a cardinal but my mom spent some time in North Carolina and never forgot their beauty. They became her favorite bird. Great shots.
