Close Encounter/ Macro Monday

Tiny bee on wild blue iris

I used my zoom lens to take this photo so the bee (or is it a  WASP?)  didn't know I was there, thank goodness.

Lady's-slipper/ Today's Flowers

Early morning dew on a showy lady's slipper (Cypripedium reginae) living in the wild

This is a northern orchid, the showiest one we have in Ontario.  It prefers to live in wet areas, many of which are currently being drained at an alarming rate to build housing developments and shopping malls in central and southern Ontario.

Showy lady's slippers in afternoon shade also living in the wild
