The silo is old - not the photo, although I admit to having shot it a couple of weeks ago during an early-winter thaw.
The silo and adjacent barn are slowly falling apart. Sad but true.
To obtain the old-timey sepia look, I used Photoshop Elements to first transform the original photo into black and white. I then applied a 50% sepia filter using a new adjustment layer.

the wrinkles of age show on these old buildings beautifully.
ReplyDeleteVery nice--you did a good job. I don't even have Photoshop, maybe I should look into it.
ReplyDeleteOld barns are so charming and yes, sad. MB
Absolutely GREAT sepia work - I love the shot & the sepia shade
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely shot. Whatever you did in Photoshop (I don't have it either) really gives it depth.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photograph this is: I love the mix of textures in it especially, which the sepia brings out beautifully. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually not a very great fan of sepia (prefer straight B & W), but it works nicely here - and a very great composition.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent sepia. Great transformation.
ReplyDeleteA lot of charactor in that old barn. Old barnes have been a passion of mine. You did a great job capturing it.

The roof looks pretty much intact, and I do love the weathered look of the barn and silo. You did a great Photoshop job.
ReplyDeleteI love the 'roof' of that silo; actually I love the whole picture, but just look at that roof and think about getting up there and building it and it looking that good!
ReplyDeleteChossing sepia for this photo you are allowing us to almost see sadness coming from that silo and barn (if this was possible) ... it's a pity letting things ruin!
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo down under also.
Lots of wonderful and inspiering photos on your blog. I like your sephia :)
ReplyDeleteI`ll be back.
I havn't seen a brick silo attached to a barn like that. The photo and silo looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt is just wonderful. So much to see and so many stories to weave about it. :D
ReplyDeleteI love those old silos. They most likely will be there long after the barn goes down. Clever shot.EG.
ReplyDeleteB.
You did good. I love this old barn and silo.
ReplyDeleteOld barns are my number one favorite for sepia. I love this one.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to know it is being left to fall apart.
gorgeous and looks old ;)
ReplyDeleteMy first entry sepia this week : in HERE. Hope you have time to visit . Thanks
Those were the days huh? I like that silo-- it has character!
ReplyDeleteAll the various textures working together is fascinating.
ReplyDeleteYou're a pro with photoshop. Fantastic photos as always.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteIn Orthodox Church every day (the same day every year) we have celebrations for name day of Saints. For example: on January 1st we celebrate the name Vasilios from Agios (Saint) Vasilios, on January 17th we celebrate Saint Antonios, on September 1st we celebrate 40 women Saints (the most of them have ancient names like Antigoni, Afrodite, Athina,....) and Saint Symeon (Siamon). I don't know your religion but you can send me your name with gmail and i'll search if we have it in our calendar of feasts.
Old barns are wonderful subjects. I don't normally like things centered, but this shot works very well.
ReplyDeleteso much texture in this photo!
ReplyDeleteand the bit of sky looks lovely
Telling how you did it... that's great EG! Lovely old barn! Happy Sepia Scenes! :)

That is just a perfect sepia! I'm sure the shot was lovely in color - but just invites sepia to bring out it's best!
ReplyDeleteA great picture... and the top of the silo is stunning.
