Recurring Theme/ Sky Watch

Fence (and barn) at sunset

A couple of weeks ago, Tarolino of Helsinki Daily and Luontovuosi 2009 challenged me to think about recurring themes in the photos I take for this blog. Yes. I'm just getting to this NOW. Sorry, Tarolino, but I've had a busy couple of weeks and I have not been as attentive to this blog as I would have liked.

Well, one theme has got to be FENCES, right?

I love their lines, the way they weave their way through fields to mark property lines and to define pastures. And I''m intrigued by the shadows they cast especially in winter...

    Very nice respons and very nice motif for your reoccuring theme. Must say I had not payd attention to your fancy for fences before. Just admired your wonderful photographs of anything and everything. Like these two for example. The sky and the scene is wonderful but the daffodils and the bit of fence is totally dreamy.

    We've had but sunshine the last weeks. Rain would be needed to make everything really get green with speed as it's too dry now.

    Both photos are superb. I especially like the muted colors in the first one...very calming and soothing...

    These are very nice... I have some great shots of fences and gates and of course benches... I am now always on the look out... I do like your barns as well.

    One way of tracking recurrent themes is to set up a tag called 'fences.' Every time you post a fence, you give it that tag. You can set one up called 'daffodil' as well. Then you add a tag cloud to your blog. If the word 'fence' shows up large, that's one of your recurrent themes!

    I really love the daffodils with fence. Love any photo of white flowers that comes out well (as I am often taking washing out white flowers and struggling to get the white nuances captured).

    Wow, these are both fantastic photos. I so love old barns, so the top one is a favorite, and the sunset is gorgeous. But I also love daffodils, so you've got me torn on which is my top fav! :)

    Regarding the forsythia - You likely have one of the old, original bushes. They are not quite winterhardy here in Ontario. The cold kills the buds that are not protected by the snow. The Experimental Farm developed ones that can tolerate the cold. Look for one with a variety name like Northern Gold, and you will be able to have blossoms all over it, too.

    I love fences also, EG. I think they are wonderful in nature pictures. Love your daffodils. Mine are gone now--so I will enjoy yours.

    Yes, fences, barns, and flowers all make good subjects. Beautiful sky shot with the fence defining the horizon, and the daffodils fit nicely under the fence rail, too.

    And oh what a beautiful job you do with those fences. Both photos are lovely but the first one is my favourite....the soft gentle colour of the sky and the defined lines of the fence and barn in contrast. Beautiful composition. Thank you so much for sharing.

    When you get you photo up to post .. click on the title of it and copy that .. then go to Sky Watch HQ and under your name is an old link, simply highlight and delete it and put in the new link to the new photo!
