Top Birds/Sepia Scenes

Two birds on tin roof and air vent

One bird at the barn peak and one on the vent. Is the bird below envious of the bird above, the King of the Mountain?

  2. Cute. I think the lower bird is trying to figure out how to knock the top bird off his perch!

  6. Another great sepia addition - I imagine after you snapped the picture, they fought over position as King Of The Mountain! LoL!

  8. Hi EG - Birds and Barns. Sublime. Has the feel of near dawn or near sunset.

AND - here's what I do in answer to your question.

what I do is convert my image to natural in Microsoft Photo Suite. It gives it a really subtle and natural tone. Then I uploaded it to Flickr and used the photo editing software that you can find there. I have only the basic but I like it so much that I'm going to buy the upgrade version. Once I have it on Flickr, I curve the corners, make frames if it looks right (it did not in this case) and play with saturation and contrast. I usually stop when it all feels just right.

  17. Perhaps the lower bird is afraid of heights. Great photo! Thanks for your visit!

  18. Very nice composition. The off-center really highlights the bird on the top as your eye is drawn upwards.

  19. I like the wispy touch with the tree on the right. Makes it all the more stark.

  20. Lovely and I prefer to think that the bird above is the guard or protector of the one below, so she doesn't mind :-)

  23. He does look like a king bird right on the top! It's a great picture.

  24. Neither bird is the superior. The fact that those two are up there (while we humans are not) means that they are merely superior to us...

  25. l like the simplicity of this a lot. It is very intriguing.

  26. I like this sepia photo and I definitely think the lower bird is trying to end up on top!

  27. Those two birds have no idea how famous they are. There's always something rustic in EG for SS. I love it. Have a good weekend.

  28. I really am not sure if birds have feelings of envy, but..maybe they do!

    Nice capture.
