Island Grove/ Sky Watch

Snake Island - an early 1800s Chippewa settlement led by Chief Joseph Snake

Now cottages populate this island located in the southwest end of Lake Simcoe, and the only remains of the Chippewa settlement is Chief Joseph Snake’s grave.

  24. Love the photo and the history, I hadn't heard of it before. I did spend one autumn on Simcoe, some 30 years ago, and remember it was stunning.

  35. Wow...such glorious beauty, great shot! I love the little honey bee below, I'd give anything to see her in my yard again. I think all the aerial spraying has really contributed to the demise of our lil' pollen-covered friends here in Iowa.
