Cormorants, Hamilton, OntarioHave you ever seen so many nests in one tree? These birds are cormorants, nesting in early May on the shore of Lake Ontario in Hamilton.
The air looks smoggy because the plants in the distance are coal-fired ones. US Steel Canada is based here.

Oh EG, that is a really super shot. I think Cormorants are an interesting bird. We have lots out here but I have never seen their nests. They seem to be a social bird--always together gossiping about something.
ReplyDeleteAbout my eagle shots---I watched the Eagle fly in with Crows chasing it and just watched (camera in hand) and when it landed I thought--Take a picture dummy--So I did. I wish I got it in flight. MB

ReplyDeleteI love this one. I've only seen cormorants perching on ferry pilings on the West Coast and I think they look like ancient, wise creatures from a distant time...especially all together like this!
ReplyDeleteI always get Cormorants and Anhingas mixed up. Here, we have Anhingas and for years, I referred to them as Cormorants.
