  1. Hi EG, We're home from vacation --and I'm beginning to catch up a little.

Love your photos--all of them. The monochrome one is always terrific.

Hope you have had a great week.
    Hugs,

  4. That is perfect for monochrome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am amazed at all the signs!!!!!!!!!!!! The slant is just perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those clouds kust make it such an interesting photo . . . after the train and the sign and the slant. . . lol I love it all.

  6. Double-decker cars !
    Marvellous contrast.

  7. That don't look like it would be much fun to ride on. It looks like some of the new torture roller coasters here that kids spend their allowance on. It sure makes an interesting post in black and white.

  13. This reminds me of going to France. I know how strange is that but it's the image fixed in my mine of boarding at Nice. Very dominant image.

  14. Odd picture the non-color hurts my eyes. Strange hmmmmm!! MB

  21. I have never seen train carriages shaped like that before! They almost look like a toy train set in Giant Land! Wonderful in monochrome!

  22. Very special - both train and picture.
Is it HDR or have you used some special filter?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is this HDR? I had to ask cuz of the glow around everything - I'm wanting to experiment w/ HDR, but can't quite figure it out - I posted my 1st hdr pic yesterday.

    Great b&w photo!

  24. Effective! Has it been 'solarised' or possibly 'working the curves' in Photoshop?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nice .. did you add a little 'grit' to it?

  26. Makes me want to hop a train and go somewhere.

  27. For you who've asked:
I used Photoshop Elements to change the photo from colour to black and white, and I then played with the sliders on the colour curves. ;-)

  28. That's an unusual train: is it a double-decker?

    Great photo.

  29. EG: Thank you very much for the information and the complement! One is always interested in learning how other do things and how they achieve interesting results.

BTW, I use a (mostly)a Canon 40D, which I think is called by the same name in America (it has now been supplanted by the 50D). The Rebel series seems to be the same that started in Europe as the 300D (I have one of those too), but are now up to 500D and also a 1000D model.

The picture of the boat was taken by a Sigma 17-70 (my "main" lens), but I also have Canon 70-300 IS USM and a Sigma 70mm macro. But one is always saving up for something...

  30. I like the effects of this monochrome!

  31. Impressive photograph! I'm fascinated and wonder how you achieved these results. Very kewl ;--)
    Hugs and blessings,
