At first glance I thought "it's the rectory next to that church", then I looked hard at the church and it has a ... barn door? interesting, I like the cottage for the hobbit Reverend.
Sepia looks nice here. The monochrome deletes the other colors, so the shapes and craftsmanship can be better admired. This stone abode has a style and character that dwarfs the modern wood houses of today. Old has far more class than modern!
Yes...why not knock on the door, tell them who you are and what you are doing and that there are hundreds of people all over the world who want to see the interior of their beautiful cottage.
I had to let you know that I worked & worked on my pics last night to do sepia pics like you described - 2 layers & 70% opacity - they look ok, but still not near as good as yours. I'll post my results next Sepia Scenes. I had no idea about that effect or how to do it, but my brother helped me figure it out. I just love your pics, especially your sepias! Thanks!
I love the texture that the sepia lends to the stone on this little cottage! It's so timeless. I love it! You are such a wonderful photographer! If you'd like to stop by my blog I'm at Cake Crumbs.
My friends live in a stone house that's 200 years old. It's cold and drafty. Their great room is the only room in the original house. They added on a kitchen, bathroom and a couple of bedrooms. The only bedrooms in the 200 year old part are up very steep stairs. Ya gotta be young to live in a stone house... :) Love your sepia tone, EG!
Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world. I hope you enjoyed your stay here. Please leave a comment before you leave so I can visit your blog.
Looks like a perfect house for elves to me. Yes, I'd love to peek inside.

ReplyDeleteRoger or me one is all the time wishing we could see inside of some of the homes...the older homes. I never even think that way about new homes.
ReplyDeleteThis sure made a great Sepia Scene.
What a charming stone cottage! I agree with Jacob. I would give it a try next time. People are mostly pretty supportive... well, mostly! *g*
