Orange and Gold/ Sky Watch

Sunset, glorious sunset!

Lately, the only colour here has been in the sky...when we're lucky.

Someone (maybe a few of you) have asked me why some of my photos have cow corn standing in the snow. Not all farmers here harvest their cow corn in the fall. Some wait till spring. AND some even harvest it in winter!

  2. I was wondering about the corn. We saw the same thing in Michigan last Fall and had no idea why it was still there.

  9. If you're only going to get color in the sky that's not a bad place for it to be. At least it can be seen and enjoyed by everyone. :-)

  10. Darla,
Field corn and cow corn are the one and the same! I have a farmer friend who calls it cow corn, which he grows, so I've picked up the phrase from him.

  20. This reminds me of an Andrew Wyeth painting...

What glorious sky colors. And you've composed it perfectly, with the rather large farm above the middle...

    It's a great scene!

  21. Same here EG. We did see some corn harvesting going on last week. They can get in the fields when the ground is frozen. The corn cobs will tip over facing down when ripe and will store throughout the winter
I just love that orange sky.
