Eagle atop a carved sculpture. Port Perry, Ontario
The EAGLE proudly sits on its nest. Originally a white ash tree on a main street, this sculpture was carved by wildlife sculptor Adam Connolly who said "I hope it [the sculpture] allows people to have a better understanding of nature, the arts, and the preservation of our heritage."
And to see what is carved below the EAGLE scroll down...
Bits and pieces of the sculpture in mosaic form
and see the rest of the sculpture as a mosaic. And then scroll down a bit more...
to see the the entire piece.

Very nice. I think I like the heron's on the stump almost better than the Eagle---well not really I guess I like the whole thing. Nice find. MB

That is so amazing! How one earth can anyone carve like that?
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful carving. I tried my hand once at carving balsa wood with a small chisel. After about 8 stitches and 2 hours at the emergency room I recognized it might not be my true calling.
ReplyDeleteThis artist is truly a master, though and I suspect he uses some big old chisels to create this amazing work.
Thanks for sharing this lovely post with us on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday.
