Cold/ Nature Notes

Mid January and Brrrr!

NO Kidding no swimming!  But perhaps you can see the cleared ice behind the fence in the largest photo, perfect for a bit of outdoor exercise on skates. Moving clockwise, icicles, birds vying for for space at a feeder, shadows on snow around young evergreens, a male goldfinch perched above a feeder waiting for his turn, and dried grass in a wetlands area.

  9. Great collage, EG. Love the "No Swimming" sign.

I was going to ask what program you use to do your collages?

And yes, we do see a lot of Canadians down here...most of them with Ontario license plates!

  10. It may have been cold when you took these pictures, but at least the sun was shining. We've had nearly a week of gray, overcast skies (and snow). I'm about ready to go to Florida!

  12. Darn it! I felt like taking a dip!!

I guess the sign doesn't apply to goldfinches? Or maybe they can't read yet. Cute shots in any case! :)

  16. Such lovely birds at the feeder! We should get one too!

Maybe they were doing a "Polar Bear Swim" fundraiser in the cold, Canadian water, eh?

  17. The no swimming sign made me laugh. Brrrrr it is cold in your neck of the woods. The icicles are so beautiful and I loved the little bird. All great winter shots.

  18. Love your collage! In a collage (or on the otherside of the window) winter always seems more bareable.

  21. The colour of those finches is gorgeous. All the snow is gone here, but I think I would like to have some more before spring comes.

  23. Good to see the birds are getting something to eat, it's difficult to find a snack in the snow.

  25. I just acquired some red polls from up your way and boy do they dominate the thistle feeders. This is the first time in several years...I like the creativity you have in your montages....Michelle
