Rusty Water Tower/SOOC

Old water tower, Port Credit, Ontario

On our way home from Upstate New York yesterday, we happened upon this old, rusty water tower standing in an old fenced-off field. It stands fairly close to lake Ontario in one of Canada's largest cities (Mississauga - next door to Toronto) so it's only a matter of time before this tower comes down and a tall building goes up.

To see more photos straight out of the camera, visit Jan's  SOOC at Murietta365.

  2. It's a good one. And, it has been a bill board, but someone has gone up to paint over most of whatever was written there. There's a country song about that but I don't remember the title. It has to do with climbing the water tower to paint over what is there to save your sister's honor. ah, the old days....

  3. That's a beautiful shot, especially with no processing. Great old tower, too. It's sad that its days are numbered.

  7. Wonderful shot. I hate that progress must take away all the interesting landmarks. Progress!

  8. That is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about this. It's sad what it most likely what to happen to such rustic and simple beauty, but I'm sure it's true. Great capture, I love the serenity of this capture.

  10. We don't have water towers in Australia like this, so I must post our style soon.

  11. Wonderful photo. I enjoy shooting water towers, also, but this is rather unique...and rather without function at the moment!

  13. nice to know that you stopped on your way home to take this picture. The old landmarks are fast disappearing.
There are many places in my town that have disappeared over the recent development frenzy, and now I wish I had gone around with my camera and made a record of them.

  14. This tower has character,a new building would be just that,a new building.

  15. I'm glad you caught it, too! I love the old relics which are scattered all over this continent, and I wish fewer of them would succumb to urban and suburban sprawl. I suppose to some they are eyesores, but I think they are beautiful.

  20. It sure looks like a relic to me. I was thinking the tower might be older than the Mayor Hazel. Is that possible?

  21. Nice. Too bad it's fenced off, climbing it might yield more treasures :-)

  24. That tower has to have a lot of history attached.
The color of the grass seems to match the tower! Nice capture.

  28. I'm glad you were able to capture a photo of it before it's taken down. A part of history that our great-grandchildren will never see, only in photos.
Someone said it looks like a painting, it sure does.
