Old water tower, Port Credit, Ontario
On our way home from Upstate New York yesterday, we happened upon this old, rusty water tower standing in an old fenced-off field. It stands fairly close to lake Ontario in one of Canada's largest cities (Mississauga - next door to Toronto) so it's only a matter of time before this tower comes down and a tall building goes up.

Glad you caught this tower before it comes down!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one. And, it has been a bill board, but someone has gone up to paint over most of whatever was written there. There's a country song about that but I don't remember the title. It has to do with climbing the water tower to paint over what is there to save your sister's honor. ah, the old days....
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful shot, especially with no processing. Great old tower, too. It's sad that its days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteI'm pulled to these old towers too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors, great composition and interesting sky. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThe wonderful grasses really set it off nicely!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot. I hate that progress must take away all the interesting landmarks. Progress!
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about this. It's sad what it most likely what to happen to such rustic and simple beauty, but I'm sure it's true. Great capture, I love the serenity of this capture.
ReplyDeleteI love this old style of water towers.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have water towers in Australia like this, so I must post our style soon.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo. I enjoy shooting water towers, also, but this is rather unique...and rather without function at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWonderful - I don't think I ever noticed this before (or I wasn't paying attention. or this is such a good shot that it stands out.)
ReplyDeletenice to know that you stopped on your way home to take this picture. The old landmarks are fast disappearing.
ReplyDeleteThere are many places in my town that have disappeared over the recent development frenzy, and now I wish I had gone around with my camera and made a record of them.
Yep, she's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThis tower has character,a new building would be just that,a new building.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you caught it, too! I love the old relics which are scattered all over this continent, and I wish fewer of them would succumb to urban and suburban sprawl. I suppose to some they are eyesores, but I think they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful a beautiful picture! Very rustic.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
I know all about progress, but I'm always sad to loose these reminders of our past.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot. Nice color too. It looks very Fallish.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back home and hope everything is ok elsewhere. MB
I hope people don't have to drink that water.
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks like a relic to me. I was thinking the tower might be older than the Mayor Hazel. Is that possible?
ReplyDeleteNice. Too bad it's fenced off, climbing it might yield more treasures :-)
ReplyDeleteNice old relic...hate to see it come down...it could be a very nice landmark!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors EG. Too bad all the old goodies must finally disappear.
ReplyDeleteB.
That tower has to have a lot of history attached.
ReplyDeleteThe color of the grass seems to match the tower! Nice capture.
Love the tower and the setting...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a watercolour to me. The rusts and browns are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful shot....and I'll take the old water tower over any building, if you please. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to capture a photo of it before it's taken down. A part of history that our great-grandchildren will never see, only in photos.
ReplyDeleteSomeone said it looks like a painting, it sure does.
