Sunset-Mt Albert/ Sky Watch

Last Saturday over Mount Albert (East Gwillimbury)

Saturday had been a warmish but windy day but by early evening the winds died down and a few clouds moved just in time for a dramatic sunset.

  1. Very pretty. And an interesting building. I'm trying to determine what it might be.

  2. Red sky at morning, sailor take warning;
    Red sky at night, sailor's delight

    Is this true or an old wives tale??

  3. That is indeed a dramatic sky. I think the touches of white on the building set of the rest of the photo really well.

  8. Gorgeous!
    I like the bird condo, too, I wonder what the bluebirds would think about that, would they let the swallows nest in a nearby apartment. They get into a fight at nesting time and the bluebirds always win. When the bluebirds fledge the swallows nest in the same box but by then it is usually too hot and the young die.

  19. This is a really gorgeous orange-and-lavender-grey sky! I don't see orange skies where I live...too many mountains and tall trees around where we live.

  25. I really like the little building against that awesome sky. The colors of the sunset are unusual...lovely. I have been out all afternoon riding about the county looking for damage from last night’s storm. Lots of trees and power lines were down, but did not find where the real damage took place. My umbrella from the Old Lady Treehouse was in the creek a bit downstream...full of water...when I walked out to get in the car to go to work. Man, did I move fast grabbing Bud and heading for the creek. With much effort we got it.

  27. Hi EG...thought I oughta set you straight! Heh, heh. Regarding your Florida flat-earth comment. Actually, the area around Ocala is all rolling hills...and these mowers were going uphill...but my camera angle doesn't really show that.

    Now, if'n you go south to Fort Lauderdale it is flat as a pancake. When Lois was training for her races, in order to get in hill training she had to run up and down overpasses until finally they made a park out of an old landfill and that became a hill that runners could use. The trouble with that is that it smelled and there was always the chance that gases would erupt through the earth! :-)

  43. Hi - great sky. I live in a place called Mont Albert - which, if local legend is true should have been called Mount Albert - but they left the "u" out on the railway station sign and Mont Albert it became!
