KALEIDOSCOPIC whimsy
When I was a little KID, I was fascinated by a toy someone gave me for my birthday, a KALEIDOSCOPE. You probably had one too, a tube you looked into and as you turned it, colourful shapes tumbled and formed beautiful patterns.
This week I learned a Photoshop Elements trick that transforms photos into similar kaleidoscopic patterns. The design above came from this photo of some pinks:
Now that I'm a big KID, I still like to play so here's another KALEIDOSCOPIC pattern from a photo of dames' rockets:
Mauve kaleidoscope
OK, I know not all of you like the idea of playing with your photos. BUT for those of you who do, you can find the instructions HERE
I am linking to Jenny Matlock at Alphabe-Thursday HERE
oh that's very cool! thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing result … so pretty and the symmetry looks very similar to kaleidoscope patterns. Technology provides so many creative opportunities. What fun!
ReplyDeleteOriginal and creative pictures!
ReplyDeleteI like this.I will be checking out the instructions.
ReplyDeleteIn my day kaleidoscopes were made of tin, but I remember playing with mine a lot. What interesting photos these make.
ReplyDeleteBoy did I love my kaleidoscope. I wonder if it's in the cellar at Mum and Dad's! :-) This is a super trick, too bad I'm no good at Photoshop!
ReplyDeleteYes kalediscopes were fantastic, toys! Your photos are good too.
ReplyDeleteIs that feature only in the full PhotoShop program? I have just Elements. (BTW...regarding my mother's peony garden: most of those peonies are ones she purchased years ago. However, some are seedlings that she produced herself. She never did it to sell them, although some of her "creations" are sold by two commercial peony farms in Oregon. Her work with the wild peony led to a visit by two Chinese botanists who were researching wild peonies, etc. We made a fascinating trip to the wilderness to dig wild peonies one May so they could take them back to China for their research.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting patterns. It's amazing what software can do with photos.
