Lodge with open water on one side
Last week my husband and I were on a mission to visit beavers but none appeared, although someone had been out earlier in the morning. The evidence: open water and fresh footprints.
A closer look of the lodge above
Shhh! They must have been sleeping as beavers tend to be nocturnal.
A second beaver lodge
No one will accuse this beaver family of being neat!

This is really neat. We are going to the Kawarthas for the long weekend. Any suggestions on something we can't miss?

ReplyDeleteI must be related to beavers in terms of not being neat. It is fascinating how they build there homes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great close-up look at a beaver lodge. I'm constantly fascinated by animal ingenuity - their abilities are truly amazing. I love thinking about all the activity that goes on around a beaver lodge below the surface that we're not aware of...
ReplyDeleteThis is nature at its finest. Animals allowed to do what they are created to do, without interruption. Great photos. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog. God bless.
ReplyDeletethere are beavers in a lake nearby, but I have never seen them nor the hut. :( Love your shots.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see evidence that the beaver had been out foraging in the mild weather.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting! Beavers are great builders! I've seen their houses inside.. I was stunned! Living room, bedroom etc etc.. And they are smart..
ReplyDeleteLovely to see these pictures! :)
Beavers and very busy, but as I recall you got a picture of one not too long ago and it is my understanding that each person is allowed only one beaver pic in a lifetime. Well, that's what I heard...
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a beaver's lodge - they look amazing and blend in so well with their surroundings. Thanks for dropping by my blog. :)
