Going downhill as a family
In Ontario, today is Family Day (third Monday in February) and, for most Ontarians, it's a day for play and no work. The day celebrates the importance of families and family life.
Another family going downhill
I took these photos yesterday, which was not officially Family Day but these families didn't want to wait to celebrate. And I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some of these families are celebrating AGAIN today!
Climbing back up

That's the best holiday I've ever heard of. And I'd rather celebrate my family today than some dead presidents! (Does that make me un-American? No, just grumpy!) Your first picture is wonderful - a great portral.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kathy, Family Day sounds like much more fun that President's Day. If you are working tho any day that you get off is great no matter what they call it.

I love the entire idea of Family Day. I wish we celebrated it here in the USA. They photos are great. I so enjoy seeing families having fun!
ReplyDeleteall these photos made me smile, the first one just shouts "happy family" no words needed, that last one is so cute and that is one fancy sled.
ReplyDeleteI think the US should take a cue from our northern neighbors. What a wonderful day of celebration. Go out an make some memories. Happy Family Day.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a terrific way to honor families. Love the colorful sled in the bottom photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to honor family.
ReplyDeleteI must say this looks like fun and it brings back lots of good memories! Too bad all the Ontarions in Florida are missing it! :-)
ReplyDeleteCute shots, EG!
What fun and I know the children were happy to have some snow for winter sports. We FINALLY got a little snow but not anywhere near enough for sledding.
ReplyDeleteHappy kids and snow - it looks like you'd a great time! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteFamily day sounds like the best idea for a holiday. And I'm with Kathy, I'd rather celebrate family than presidents. (I don't think I'm grumpy though)
ReplyDeleteFun! I would still like to try sledding, but I'm afraid I'll break something. lol Love the little boy in the last shot, his cheeks match his coat.
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like a great holiday to me!
ReplyDeleteyour caption on the first photo cracked me up! what a wonderful holiday to celebrate!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a Family Day before, what fun.
ReplyDeleteLol … looks like those boys are carrying big blue donuts up those hills. Beautiful shots of family outings in the snow but I had to laugh and found a double meaning you likely didn’t intend when you said another family going downhill. :)
ReplyDeleteNice series! We don't do this holiday in BC, but then I'm retired - every day's a holiday!
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember when it was introduced a few years back it was very needed in February. Looks like this year it was a great day fun and weather wise.
ReplyDeleteLucky you having a holiday here. I wish BC would have that as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great day to have! I wish we have it as well. I think its a very important day.

Snow, when it rarely comes here, is a tragedy. We are totally unused to it and unprepared, but I always like to see it elsewhere...
ReplyDeleteYour lovely photos tell just a right thing :)
ReplyDeleteMaking children happy you get happiness.
I love the fun... great shots!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Holland,
Anna :-))
Fun photos! I done some snow tubing with my family and it is lots of fun. Here in the states this Monday Feb 20 is a holiday celebrating Presidents Day. The government offices are closed along with a bank holiday. A day off to spend with the holiday is a wonderful thing. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWow, does that bring back memories. What a fun way to spend the day, and what a divine idea - Family Day, just super.
ReplyDeleteI guess we had similar ideas on how to spend Family Day! Looks like these families are having lots of fun. Hope you and your family enjoyed the long weekend as much as we did!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see these families enjoying the outdoors together! I like the colorful photo of the sledders climbing the hill.
ReplyDeleteUwielbiam jak Rodzice bawią się z dziećmi, to cudowne. Pozdrawiam. *** I love it when parents play with children, it is wonderful. Yours.
