Kayaker entering Whitby Harbour
Not everyone puts their kayak away and hangs up their paddles for the winter months. This hardy kayaker must believe in the proverb "There is no bad weather, only the wrong gear."
A closer look

Passing me where I stood on the pier
I am linking to Watery Wednesday where you can find many more watery photos.
He looks so small in all of that water. Scary to me. It sure looks cold!
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition in the first photo. Such an intrepid kayaker!
ReplyDeleteDarla
Boy, he is definitely much more hardy than me! The first photo really makes the story of the big, big open water and the little, little frail guy out in it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a small boat.
ReplyDeleteHardy he must be, it looks freezing.
ReplyDeleteA braver soul than I!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of winter dives... as in scuba dives in icy waters.
Amazing shots. Great captures. :)
ReplyDeleteHe sure looks dressed for it. I bet it's peaceful being the only one out there.
ReplyDeleteHe is indeed a brave soul; perhaps a bit foolhardy too. I particularly like the last photo. His choice of color if his apparel is wise since it can be seen from afar in an emergency.
ReplyDeleteTHere is a sturdy soul, not to mention you being out there in the cold!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
Love the Family Day photos, too!
Cheers from Cottage Country East!
an adventurous heart!
ReplyDeleteBrrr that looks cold nice shots!
ReplyDeletebrave fellow for cold and brave to ignore that sign.
ReplyDeleteBraver than me!
ReplyDeleteBrrrr . . as much as I enjoy the cooler temperatures, that does look C O L D ! Great captures which demonstrate that those with a passion will let nothing stand in their way! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteGreat series of shots! Funnily I posted canoeing photos today. Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteThis guy is much more hardy than I am -- and, I'm guessing, much younger!
ReplyDeletewhat a brave soul!
ReplyDeleteFascinating series which proves my theory that some Ontarions are just plain nuts!
ReplyDeleteand some Ontarians are just full of adventure. I would not be one of them, though.
ReplyDeleteWell he seems bundled up enough.
ReplyDeleteas long as he takes heed of warnings.
But BRRRR!!!

That takes a very hearty (or fool hearty) soul! I'll go with the former nor the latter... love your shots!
ReplyDeleteNo way you'd get me in that thing. That is really cold water!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a very cold hobby. I can think of other things that would be more fun, even though I do like kayaking in warm weather.
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful captures. Thanks for stopping by my blog from time to time.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I would want to be out this time of year. In the first couple of shots it is so choppy you can barely see the kayak. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
ReplyDeletevery brave man, I am not, I just sit on my couch and comment what a silly man. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis guy seems all rugged up to face the watery chills! Great shots of a special thrill seeker!
ReplyDeleteThe main thing is he looks like he's enjoying himself!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave soul!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures!
I wouldn't be doing that in a million years...it looks freezing!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
