RAILWAY: Canadian National coming from the north
As you can see, March is not the most photogenic of months in central Ontario. Luckily this REDDISH orange Canadian National RAILWAY (commonly called CN) engine entered the scene and saved the photo. CN passes through East Gwillimbury on the east side of town. During the night, if I'm awake, I sometimes hear trains every 20 or 30 minutes. Most of the time I don't hear them though.
Track heading southwesterly
This is the same intersection looking the other way. I took the photo last fall, but you can see a misty sunset adds a light REDDISH (aka pink) tint here.
Curve in the track
I cannot remember, but I think this track belongs to the Canadian Pacific RAILWAY (aka CPR) running parallel with the north shore of Lake Ontario. I'm always looking for a chance to take photos of CPR engines, which are RED. Unfortunately I had no luck the day I took this photo.

Trains awaken the romantic in many of us as we dream of faraway places!
ReplyDeleteI love train pics!
ReplyDeleteTrains and railways have always something of an attractive adventure, I like them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for feeding my love of trains. I too occasionally hear one tooting in the night.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Good shot of the train. Were you out of the car?
ReplyDeletelove that tree. and the train makes me want to ride one. i love the long lonely sound of a wailing train. we hear it here each morning at 4:30
ReplyDeleteI love trains!
ReplyDeleteI'm always interested in trains and tracks. Pictures like this bring back many memories of spending time at the tracks with my husband. He loved all things 'train'.
ReplyDeleteI too am a big fan of train pictures. I like the tracks too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that 2nd shot!
ReplyDeleteI love trains, engines, tracks so I really enjoyed this series. Maybe you ought to put your camera on the "vivid" mode and see what happens?
ReplyDeleteTåget gör ju hela bilden. Snyggt. Ha de gott. Anita
ReplyDeleteWell you found your R with a red engine and the tracks, but I also like the dead tree.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy a train shot!
ReplyDeletePatty and I lived beside a railroad - separated from it by a side ditch and a small alley. It would pass, going slowly, and make the house and dishes rattle. I like trains. Grew up with them passing the house twice each day.
ReplyDeleteYou've managed to take some beautiful of the track and the train though! I kinda like the look and feel of the entire area!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, especially that second one.
ReplyDeleteThe train adds wonderful color to an otherwise bland landscape. It's strange, but that's now how I pictured Canada in the winter. Bet it's pretty when everything greens up though.
ReplyDeleteI love that first shot! Great timing for the train to come through.
ReplyDeleteHello Tina
ReplyDeleteGreat weather we're having; don't think I've ever done spring cleanup sweating from the heat.
There's something about a red engine, whether train or fire; must come from all the books we read as kids.
I lived a short distance from RR tracks growing up and you're right, after awhile you don't even hear the trains or whistles.

I adore trains! Sadly we do not have train service on the island anymore. We have not heard any more news whether or not if it will ever run again. It all depends on the government and via Rail, re finances.
ReplyDeleteThe house I lived in for 32 years had railway tracks at the end of the yard. At first it was Via passenger trains and freight trains, but the only trains that run on the track now are the GO commuter trains to and from the city. And they certainly blow their horns very loudly very early in the morning! I hope the people who live in the house now are heavy sleepers!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice train pictures.
Love these.
ReplyDeleteyes, what a beautiful train! I am a fan and wish we had more for public daily use here in the USA.
ReplyDeleteSorry to have been away so long. I have such nostalgia for the trains---still get excited seeing one in the countryside
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful place to travel by train through and view the beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo with the train barreling through!
ReplyDelete=)
Love the red train!
ReplyDeletegorgeous...
I see that reddish-pink tint you're talking about. Photography has been an eye-opening experience for me that way. I find myself commenting on things that formerly went unnoticed. I like the boldness in the image of the red train. Good eye, CameraGirl!
ReplyDeleteHi Tina,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the train and railroad tracks. I don't know if I could live near one though. I need to be able to hear the birds and bees :-)
Visiting from Mrs Matlock’s, did enjoy your *R* post – especially the train!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to *seeing* you again soon!
One thing I have always wanted to do was take a train trip. There is just something about the sights and sounds of a train that makes me think of an adventure!
ReplyDeleteNice. Trains and tracks can make wonderful subjects...just be super super super careful if you get lost in your photography like I've been known to do. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of a train, at night. When we used to visit my in-laws at the farm, we could hear the old CPR in the distance - it was a lovely night-time sound.
ReplyDeleteI just love your photos! I would like to go by train in your country!
ReplyDeleteMe, I like the fields before everything turn green.. :) I know what you're talking about, I do hear the trains too.. :))
Enjoy the Spring coming closer! :)
I'd love to travel across Canada by train!
ReplyDeleteTrains are Really neat...
ReplyDeleteI used to live close to one and I actually enjoyed hearing them pass through...
Great post for the letter :R:.
