Seen at the Evergreen Brick Works
The wildflowers behind the brick works are beautiful in early August.
The largest square: butterfly on swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata), purple fragrant raspberry (Rubus odoratus); staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina); not sure (so if you know please tell me); yellow coneflowers (Ratibida pinnata) and fragrant water lily (Nymphaea odorata).
Please note: I include botanical names because so many common names names change from region to region but botanical names remain the same.

ReplyDeleteOh that butterfly...and esp. love the sumac somehow, though all are lovely. (Soo impressed by your knowledge of the names too - I need to get my botany up to speed, now that I'm surrounded by more nature :)
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers and collage.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. I do not see many water lilies and butterflies.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine collage! It always amazes me how many flowers can exist side-by-side in a small area.
ReplyDeleteMy college roommate played the guitar. No matter what he played, I always said "Nice, I always love it when you play 'Old Shep.'" That is how I feel about wildflowers. They are all pretty and they are all daisies. How did you learn all this stuff?
ReplyDeleteLovely colourful photos. My favourites are the butterfly and the stunning waterlily. Delightful to be able to see so many wildflowers in one spot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful grouping. I like that butterfly :)
ReplyDeleteLove the collage....most of our flowers are burnt to a crisp this month...glad I could enjoy yours ;)
