Belted kingfisher on utility wire above a creek
Don't you wonder what this belted kingfishe is looking at?
A longer view
Is it wondering what that tangled mess is? Is it thinking "Silly humans"?
Flying off the wire
No, the bird is not showing us how to fish properly. It's tired of posing.
I am joining Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE
Cute little bird!
ReplyDeleteDid not realize that they were small birds.
ReplyDeletei would love to see one of these, they look somewhat like the kookaburro in Australia. i would like to see both of them
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!! Love the one of the kingfisher taking off!
ReplyDeleteA pretty little fellow. Glad he stopped to pose for awhile!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish people would not litter. Love the belts on these birds. They are so pretty. In your first shot he looks to be mesmerized by the mess on the wire. Hope he stayed away from it.Wonderful captures. genie
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bird and I love those photo's.
ReplyDeletelove these scolding birds. :)
ReplyDeleteHe is quite intrigued with the mess.
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of shots!
Such cute little bird! I would love to see one one day (in my dreams!)
ReplyDeleteGreetings Pia in Sweden
Lovely bird on wire series, haha I bet it's thinking both: What is that? Hmph, must be those silly humans again!
ReplyDeleteIt's not surprising that a kingfisher is looking at some fishing line that some dumb fisherperson left hanging.
ReplyDelete:-)
Nice photo and perfect for WBW!
ReplyDeleteI do love the Kingfisher but I haven't managed to take a good photo yet!
Have a nice evening!
It must be sensing a net trap.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures.
So small and cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of this beautiful bird!! I wish I will see one in real one day :)
ReplyDeleteLove your the Belted Kingfisher pics and snap with our themes today.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you caught him flying off. From Findlay
ReplyDeletePretty!!!! The one photo of it in flight is so dazzling to the eye
ReplyDeleteWild Bird Wednesday - Backyard Birds
Great shots, loved the one in flight as I can never get that quite right. We have fishing lines in tangles at our local pond all the time :(
ReplyDeleteit is a beautiful bird that I was lucky to see in CostaRica last year. :) Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing Kingfisher, and fantastic shots.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun series of shots today. I've never seen a Kingfisher.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots of the Kingfisher. They always fly away before I can get a shot.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteI love that last capture.
ReplyDeleteWow these are wonderful I love the last photo also. Fishing line in the air always a surprise. B
ReplyDeleteWhat a photogenic bird! This is the closest I've ever seen one. They won't pose for me!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of one of my favorite birds (and one I've never ever been able to get a picture of)...I'm envious, but grateful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that last shot where it's flying with its wings spread wide.
ReplyDeleteA great capture of a bird being a bit curious!
ReplyDeleteSuch a big mouth for a little guy.
ReplyDeletePretty like bird! I wonder what he's thinking.
ReplyDeleteThats a nice combinations of images about fishing! I hate see fishing line left about (and I know that in this case I doubt the person could have removed it even if they had wanted to) - on some days I spend almost as much line collecting the stuff as I do fishing!
ReplyDeleteFor once this is actually a species I've seen!
thanks for the visit to WBW - Stewart M
Very nice series! That last shot is very good, showing the wings spread!
ReplyDeleteGreat that the kingfisher decided to fly off and give you a chance for an action shot.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Very cute. We have so many of these tangled fishing lines over our creek bridges.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series!
ReplyDeleteYou make a good statement in pictures, here.
ReplyDeleteI can understand how sometimes a line breaks off into the water and is unretrievable. But it bugs me a lot, when I go fishing, and I have to clean up after somebody else who left their junk on the land. Now, if somebody isn't a "tree hugging" ecologist, that's their business, but the act of littering is always rude and shows a lack of respect and basic manners.
Beautiful Kingfisher.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots. It's a shame that fisher folk do this kind of thing. We'd get crap all over at the lake.
ReplyDeleteI love these shots of the belted kingfisher. I hear them more often than I see them. They have such a distinctive call but are so speedy and hard for me to photograph.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots! I have yet to get a good photo of a Kingfisher. Yours are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the Belted Kingfisher CameraGirl. She's a beauty! That in flight shot is super!
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely bird and that last flight shot, great one~
ReplyDeleteI see them at a couple different places, but they never remain still for me to get near enough for a shot.
