Perching on a utility wire, this colourful and fierce American kestrel is North America's smallest falcon.
Slate-blue head and wings, rusty-red back
Kestrels hunt in open areas with few trees and short vegetation.

So beautiful; I love hawks of all kinds but these are definitely among my favourites...second only to redtail hawks.

Thgose are superb shots EG and everyone in the US tells me that American Kestrels are impossible to approach.

Kestrels are VERY difficult to get close enough to shoot. These are awesome. What lens did you use? I will not be able to post mine after seeing these. Great job!
