Red-bellied woodpecker
I find it difficult choosing favourite photos...especially one for an entire year. However, I confess that in October when I accidentally lost many of the photos I'd taken between January and October - I dropped an external hard drive - the photos I mourned the most (at least at first) were of this red-bellied woodpecker.
FYI: I was pleasantly surprised to find a folder of red-bellied woodpecker photos still on my computer. YAY!
I am linking to City Daily Photo Theme Days HERE
This is a great photo. I'd be sad too if I thought I'd lost it! Lucky you discovered that folder on your computer!

ReplyDeleteI love these woodpeckers too. When I lived in Virginia and then later in North Carolina I could see (and photograph) these guys all the time. I miss 'em. Anyway, it's a wonderful shot you have there. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThe woodpecker is great. I also really love the snowy owl in the previous post!
ReplyDeletePiękne zdjęcie ptaka.
ReplyDeleteŻyczę wspaniałego 2014 roku !
Beautiful photo of a bird.
I wish you a wonderful 2014!
One of the most memorable bird pictures I have ever seen! So glad you did at least find some of the lost pictures again! I have lost an entire year, parts of 2008 and 2009, due to an external harddrive that simply stopped working. Since then, I have 3 different hard drives, seeing as the cost of storage space has gone down considerably. I hope you'll never again experience such a catastrophic event!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours,

ReplyDeleteThis is a great shot - so glad you didn't lose it! And the second one is wonderful, too! The woodpecker actually looks joyous; I suppose a peanut is quite a score. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, EG. I can see why you picked this wonderful image.
ReplyDeleteLosing nearly a year's worth of photos? Say it isn't so! Every since Janet from Sarasota lost all of hers, I have been backing my laptop up faithfully and I have bought a second hard drive to use for belt and suspenders. (Haven't backed it up yet, but maybe tomorrow!)
You inspire many! Your woodpecker image is a prime example.
ReplyDeleteMay 2014 be filled many more opportunities and incident proof hard drives.
Thanks for your comment on St. Louis DP's photo of the year post. Your image is just remarkable. I'm not a nature photographer but this is a bird picture with personality.
ReplyDeleteSplendid capture and choice for theme! All the best in 2014!
ReplyDeleteJust the right choice for the day!
