Sunlight on young black spruce tree
During the morning of a recent trip to Algonquin Provincial Park (two hours north of where I live), the sun shone for several hours, lighting up a popular trail through the Spruce Bog.
Packed to go camping
Would you believe we met two campers? Yep, they were about to spend a couple of nights deeper inside the park. Brrr.
Near entrance to trail
Clearly a few people had already ventured down this path to enjoy the fresh air and view northern wildlife such as the Spruce Grouse. I confess that I have walked this trail a few times and NEVER seen a Spruce Grouse though!
Light in field beyond trees

ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup EG, I love this shot of cool on a 39C day, appreciate :)
ReplyDeleteThere's something really special about the first image!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
Beautiful images! I can not imagine camping in the cold weather.. I hope you get to see your Spruce Grouse.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, love the winter.
ReplyDeletea very beautiful scene but gosh you'd have to been keen to want to sleep there overnight in those conditions??? Would you possibly be able to stay warm and actually 'sleep'?
ReplyDeleteThe snow images are lovely but belie the fact that winter can sometimes be unpleasant! Winter camping? I admire the brave souls but it's not for me. I had to participate in similar outdoor programs when I was still teaching, but it certainly did NOT make a convert out of me.
ReplyDeletedid you ask the camper when was the last time he had his head examined?? yowsa.. but it makes a great photo and that tree in the first one is amazing. decorated by God... so pretty
ReplyDeleteHaving camped many times in the dead of winter, I can with utmost sincerity say that it is something I NEVER wish to do again. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous snow shots
ReplyDeleteMuch as I love winter, I don't think I'd go camping. Love how your photo has a timeless quality to it. Imagine if he had been wearing buckskin!
ReplyDeleteThis is a delightful post!
It is a winter wonderland.
ReplyDeleteMy X-country skies would love this trail.
ReplyDeleteI have done some winter camping. It just requires a different attitude.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. I know that trail very well and have walked it in winter. The rest of the year it can even be managed with a wheelchair.
These images are so beautiful. You captured the snow perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would want to go camping in the snow. I wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of the night to go out and well you know.......
Very nice shots though. MB
hardy folks, those outdoorsy types. :)
ReplyDeleteCamping in the snow is not my idea of fun. Your photos are delightful.
ReplyDeleteSnow is so lovely to look at but I cannot understand why someone would want to go camping in it. I am sure it can be wondrous though if done properly and with care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place! and I can imagine the solitude of camping in the snow....that would appeal to me....but NOT the coldness!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful place, but you would not catch me camping there in the winter!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThose campers are brave. Or crazy. Or both!
ReplyDeleteYou have make beautiful snow photos!
ReplyDeleteThe top shot is so beautiful! But I can't imagine how cold is that...
ReplyDeleteI'd not survive the night camping in the snow. Wonderful photos though.
ReplyDeleteMyślę, że z przyjemnością bym poszła tam na spacer. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteI think that I would love to go there for a walk. Yours.
Your photos present a visual delight ... sunshine in the forest creates a lot of interesting subjects. This is the way I like snow...and this is the distance I like to view snow.
ReplyDeletePeople actually camping out in the snow, though, have to be a little nuts! Camping, to me, involves a room in a Marriott with a mini-bar!
Gorgeous snowy shots! I love the last one. I can't imagine camping in the snow like that. Brave people!!!
ReplyDeleteWinter in all its glory is found in your photos of Algonquin Park. I can't imagine camping at this time of year, but I remember a friend used to take his school's Adventurous Club out for a couple of nights.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd prefer your way of appreciating nature's beauty, during a nice hike. The snow on the trees and a bridge is gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing the woods at Sunlit Sunday.

Wow! A lot of snow, how wonderful ! Fantastic place for winter walks.
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Tough place to go camping... but I'm thinking of the photo ops !
ReplyDeleteWinter beauty at its best. The first and the last are my favourites here.Love the light on that small snow covered tree.
ReplyDeleteLove you sunlit snow photos but not sure I'd be going camping in it. Too cold
ReplyDeleteI'm too much of a sissy to think that camping in weather like this would be fun.
ReplyDeleteCamping in the snow? NO! But kudos to those hearty souls.
ReplyDeleteLove the light on the little spruce tree. Snow is so beautiful.
Love the trails through the trees! I admire those hardy souls. Camping in the snow is not for me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! Did you walk or snowshoe or..?
ReplyDelete(ツ) from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
I don't know how people can camp in snowy conditions let alone the cold temperatures. They are very adventurous. Not my cup of tea. Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteOhhh....I love your photos of the snowy scenes. I wish our mountains would get some of that.
ReplyDeleteThose campers are brave! I don't think I'd be venturing into the park overnight, as beautiful as it is.
ReplyDeleteYou'll never find me doing that!
ReplyDeleteI would never do that kind of camping, though my daughter has done it. Maybe that is why living on the other side of the planet doesn't seem like an unusual adventure to her.
ReplyDeleteSome really beautiful shots, but as far as the campers--better them than me!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you embrace winter! Never thought to check out the Ohio River for "ice sculpture" but will do that after seeing your photos. Your nature shots remind me that I need to get out of my yard for photo ops in the snow storm. Wonderful variety of locations and shots.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your snowy world. I'd like to get some of it here.
ReplyDeleteI like that I can enjoy your lovely snowy scenes from the warmth of my house.
ReplyDeletegreat shots. But...camping? I hope they were well dressed. I´m glad you had some sun though.
ReplyDeleteGreat wintry shots ~ Brave souls ~ carol, xxx

soooo beautiful. i cannot get enough of these winter scenes.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe people were actually camping in all that coldness!
ReplyDelete=)
I can understand the desire to camp amidst such beauty but you wouldn't get me doing it!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures - what a great place and weather to do for a walk.
ReplyDeleteI have done a little snow camping - and with bit of care and knowledge it can be great.
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Lots of winter fun and beauty!
ReplyDeleteNice soft white captures.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots of the park! Maybe they rented a Yurt. Those are pretty cosy in the winter.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you weren't in CO? That last photo could be my Spooky Woods! Winter camping - brrrr! I love the winter sunlight in the photos.
ReplyDeleteYou are pretty adventurous to be out there yourself. Those campers though, I don't know what to say about them. They are made of stronger stock than I
ReplyDeleteExquisite shot of the snow-covered spruce! Not my idea of the time for camping though.
ReplyDeleteJust gotta love those sunny winterwonderland days :)
ReplyDeleteLovelly pictures :)
I can see the attraction to wanting to camp in that gorgeous scenery but the cold might scare me away. At least eith our cold weather this winter I find we have more sun days to balance.
ReplyDeleteIt might be a pretty place to walk, but I really don't think I'd want to camp there. At least right now.
ReplyDeleteLove that first photo, but I don't know... there's just something wrong about camping in snow. LOL
