Early morning blaze at Mount Albert Fire Hall
When I titled yesterday's Mosiac Monday post, I had no idea there would be a Fire and Ice post #2, but sadly there is. Sunday morning (yesterday), one of East Gwillimbury's fire halls went up in flames. The fire hall is a write off.
Fire fighter and hose, seen through smoke
My point-and-shoot's zoom lens came in handy since, of course I couldn't get in very close.
Street blocked off for obvious reasons
Although six vehicles (including a brand-new million dollar pumper) have been lost, there have been no reported injuries, which is a blessing.
Smoke billowing over the rooftops as seen from the nearby provincial highway

Excellent shots...but awful news.
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic shots, good news that no one was injured.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos... well captured...
ReplyDeletethanks
I saw it on the TV news. All the fire trucks were lost in the fire. At least no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteI think you know you are having a bad day if the fire station burns down!
ReplyDeleteHope nobody was hurt.

Wow! The loss of an entire fire station will take time to replace.
ReplyDeleteOh I seen this on our news and thought of you it is very sad. Your photos are incredible. Hug B
ReplyDeleteWow- I wonder what caused that? Dramatic shots- and how awful!
ReplyDeleteSome spectacular photos of a very sad event!
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear this, but you do know how much I love that first fire shot
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, but what a terrible event this is. So glad though that no one was hurt!
ReplyDeleteWow, the fire house itself burned down? That just seems strange. Sure happy there were no injuries.

Fabulous post and that first shot is very dramatic. Winter fires are so difficult to fight - I really feel for the firefighters!
ReplyDeleteThat's shocking. I hope the fires weren't deliberately lit ? Its a sad fact that so many are. Perfectly documented here EG.
ReplyDeleteThat is a terrible loss to the community! You got some terrific shots. Thankfully, no one was injured!
ReplyDeleteYou captured some amazing reportage, but what a sad loss. So much gone at once.
ReplyDeleteA fire at a fire station is something I have never heard of before. Shocking to think that such a thing could happen and thank goodness no one was hurt. It will be interesting to learn how it got started.
ReplyDeletei wasn't sure what a fire hall was, but your explanation of the vehicles lost made it clear it was what we call a fire station or fire house. that is truly sad.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this is truly horrible! So very sorry.
ReplyDeleteHow awful! I'm glad to hear that no one was hurt but what a terrible loss to the community!
ReplyDeleteYou got some very good shots though.
Oh no! How uncanny that your previous post was called fire and ice. Glad that no lives were lost. Things can be replaced.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I saw it on the news. Such a horrible thing!
ReplyDeleteYa, I saw it on the news and thought of you too! So sad, but at least no one was hurt!
ReplyDeleteSo sad. Glad there weren't injuries.
ReplyDeleteWhat terrible news. But I have to admit, your photos are really good! THe fire and ice are beautiful together, though destructive.
ReplyDeleteSo strange to see smoke and fire and snow together. A tragic scenario but it generates an awesome photo like the first one.
ReplyDeleteScary. :-(
ReplyDeleteHI I am sure they did not expect to be putting out a fire at their own stations however you managed great dramatic shots of the action.
ReplyDeleteThat's gotta be embarrassing to the FD... not to mention a huge financial loss.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots of the blaze and ice..but it's sort of ironic!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable! Losing the building and the equipment will be quite a blow to this community.Thankful that no one was hurt.Equipment can be replaced but lives cannot.
ReplyDeletevery nice photo coverage. very sad though. btw, what is a fire hall?
ReplyDeleteOh no! Small Town and Rural Fire Departments are very important to the community.
ReplyDeleteGlad that no one was hurt and hope your town and community can recover from this loss.
A fire house destroyed by fire....oh the irony! Sad to hear of this loss.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots but not great news.
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic shots. Good to hear no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures, but sure sad not a good thing to get to capture. Blessing though that no one was injured.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear. That must have been horrible to whiteness.
ReplyDeleteWonderful coverage. I am surprised to seethe blazing fire even in winter.
ReplyDeleteWhen your fire house burns down, things are not going very well. It must be hard to fight any fire when the water you are using starts to freeze.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing that the firehouse burned down. Sad to loose all the trucks and equipment. But, very good that no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteVery sad!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. Your are volunteer firefighters, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteMy ex-husband had a heart attack and there were 12 first responders there for my poor daughter, who happened to be visiting.
She told her step-mom to call 911, but she has dementia and didn't know how. What a tough week for my kids. I'm just wrestling with hubby's catheter. sigh.
Super pics, but sad news!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.

Somehow, fire and snow seem like they shouldn't coexist.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the fire house.
"/
