Whitby Harbour

 Trumpeter swans

Last Monday when these photos were taken, most of the harbour at Whitby (on Lake Ontario) was surrounded by ice but the harbour itself  was either ice free or covered with a thin layer of ice.

There's a snowy owl somewhere on those icy rocks, but I didn't see it.

  6. it does look beautiful doesn't it? Even though I am ready to see tiny flowers coming up out of the soil. We still have another month of winter here and expect we will get more snow and ice.

  25. Great pics of the Trumpeter Swan. We seldom see them in the water here---just playing in the muddy fields. Well not really playing t parts of the country. MBthey are eating.
I didn't see the Owl either. Love the icicle pic.

Answer to you question: the eagles are not laying eggs yet but supposedly these Eagles come back to the same nest every year (resident Eagles) and they mate now and probable lay eggs by March at the latest. It is different in different parts of the country.
