Canada Goose sitting on her nest
Apparently the snow last week has not affected the goose breeding season. Out for a walk in Newmarket, I discovered this soon-to-be Momma.
On a tiny island in Fairy Lake, Newmarket
She apparently felt safe as I was quite a distance away and had to zoom in a LOT with my point-and-shoot to get the closer photo.
Father Goose
As you can see, soon-to-be dad is monitoring the situation.
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE
I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for this next activity.
ReplyDeleteGreat 'family' shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pair!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! Is that a bit of green I see in that last shot? We have a pair of geese nesting over by The Rez. I'm looking forward to some babies.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you can't get too close to a mama goose!
ReplyDeleteshe is beautiful and Father is On Patrol.... ready to make those loud hissing noises if anyone comes close
ReplyDeleteAnother sure sign that flowers and grass are coming...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they are early, or the geese here are late...
funny all the birds we have in Florida, but no geese. I had to make a business trip to Chicago to meet my first gaggle...they wouldn't give up the sidewalk during a run...attacked me like banshees. Thought I was going to die :)
ReplyDeleteDearest EG CameraGirl;
ReplyDeleteOh, Mother Goose and father (soon-to-be) so lovely♡♡♡ I wish I could take pictures with zoom better as I sometimes see birds in the river from the road(^^;)
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
I hope you get to see the babies when they come.
ReplyDeleteIt tickles me that she has her own island. Living in style!
ReplyDeleteDarla
Great shot of the expectant mother and of the father standing watch.
ReplyDeletesweet! i hope they have a successful brood!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to keep checking back on her. It would be fun to see some goslings!
ReplyDeleteA lovely couple!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that Father Goose would have bravely dealt with the situation had you come too close. I have been chased by a goose before and it's kind of scary.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the geese nesting again. We were out the other day when a Daddy Goose was standing like a sentinel while his mate was feeding. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to take picture of those little ones later.
ReplyDeleteDo keep us updated on this little family if you can!
ReplyDeleteShe does look secure there, EG!

ReplyDeleteWe have a pair of Canada geese that come to our pond every spring. They are such love birds. I love watching them gliding along side by side on the water. I have yet to see the little ones, though. Beautiful shot of mama goose.
ReplyDeleteA nest with a view.

ReplyDeleteWell, the early bird get the worm and the early breeding goose probably gets the tastiest new grass.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to her.
