Canada: the Great White North
N is for NORTH
Occasionally people cross the Canadian border in summer from the U.S. thinking they have only a few more miles to travel NORTH to find ice and snow. I know NONE of you, dear bloggers, think we are covered in ice year-round, but some visitors bring their snowmobiles over the border hoping to use them during their summer holidays.
A cool summer evening near Lake Simcoe, NORTH of East Gwillimbury
Jacket or sweater weather is about as cold as it gets here where I live NORTH of Toronto, where this year it has felt a lot cooler than usual. Yes, it has been cool but NOTICE there's NO snow.
Another sunset over Lake Simcoe
I am linking to Jenny Matlock at Alphabe-Thursday HERE
No snow , and a beautiful summer light !
ReplyDeleteThe light! Wow at the light. It's mesmerizing, from snowy day to sunset. All are amazing views!

Haha! Funny post. You can always tell us Washingtonians--we are the ones WITHOUT the umbrellas. LOL
ReplyDeleteAlthough it has been extremely hot this summer (for us). MB
Ah, but the snow can't be far behind. :-)
ReplyDeleteReally? People bring their snow mobiles in summer? I think they must have elevators that don't go all the way to the top! You found some beautiful shots for North!
ReplyDeleteI thought that before i started blogging and met you and a couple of others and saw all the beauty of your summers and winters.... that is what i like about blogging, we learn about other places without leaving home
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, EG. The snow will come soon enough... and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteseriously? good lord...
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Imagine their disappointment after hauling that snow mobile along. They should be following your blog.
ReplyDeleteDarla
I can't imagine thinking that at this time of year. I've lived in Labrador..I know better! That last shot is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove that light in the last image.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful summer shots, no snow here either, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI love these photos, each one is a beauty. Cute post about the snow. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment :)
ReplyDeleteSnow?, in August?... they must be crazy!
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is interesting. Wonder what's in the big yellow box? I think those people who come across must be thinking of Alaska! Beautiful lake scenes!
ReplyDeleteYou kidding me? NO sNow? Lol, people with No Neography must be soooo disappoiNted! :-)
ReplyDeleteGood one, EG! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha... Ontario is HOT in the summer. And humid. I miss it!!!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh about bringing snowmobiles in the summer. When I first moved to Indiana, from Tennesse...I had a few people asked me if I had ever heard rock-n-roll. I am still amazed at that one.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your sunset photograph.
No winter and snow photos by now...!!! It's still August - and summer season! ;-))
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment, East Gwillimbury CameraGirl!
Regards from Germany, Uwe.
It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe snow will come both here at home and over by you.
I don't look forward for that, it's so cold at this time .. hehehe.
It is beautiful where you live and you had some seriously beautiful light for those summer pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh I am not quite ready for that Northern weather yet. We are experiencing a rather cool August here in New England and that is plenty cold enough for me for now.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous summery photos from the North ~ great post for N ~

With the temperatures hitting the 30+ C mark today,no snow would stay around for long,if there were any.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I know Canada only as a very hot, mosquito rich and sunny country, we was there from late July to August. A surprise were the vineyards.
ReplyDeleteI always think the great white north is further oath than me ... at least in Northern Ontario. :)
ReplyDeleteI just love the sunset/water photo. It's jacket weather here, too - and there will soon be snow.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny. People think they'll find snow on their summer vacations. It's kind of like my mother-in-law thinking we'd get snow in Houston when it snowed in Amarillo, but that's 800 miles from us. Texas is big. We've got a semi-tropical climate.
ReplyDeleteSo funny...and your pics are so lovely!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a jet ski would be better than a snowmobile, lol! Lovely photos, enjoy your evening.
ReplyDeleteThe last photograph here is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYeah. Make someone from the U.S. pack a passport and they think they're really going foreign. I suppose there are those who want to go ice fishing in summer, too.
ReplyDeleteLovely summer shots.
You'd think with the internet, people would be more informed of the climate where they're visiting. Wow. Lovely photos of the sunrise (or is it sunset?). Wish I could visit there. It's hot as blazes here right now.
ReplyDeleteI spent many a summer on Lake Simcoe growing up! Beautiful sunset. Err if we had snow her all year, you can bet your snow mobile I'd be out of here!
ReplyDeleteNo Snow!!! But it is Canada. Everybody knows that Canada has three seasons, last winter, this winter, and next winter.
ReplyDeleteLove the sunset shot.
ReplyDeleteHa ha - funny what people can think! Some people think that reindeer roam the streets of Stockholm...
ReplyDeleteLovely summer light in these shots!
People really bring their snowmobiles over during summer? That is too funny. Where I live, we wouldn't know what to do if it ever snowed or iced up. There would be chaos on the roads. Very nice photos!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful summer light!
ReplyDeleteThere are a few places here where we have snow all year round most years!
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm not ready for snow, your photos remind me that it's coming and it can be enjoyed♪
ReplyDeleteLOL I hear ya.
ReplyDeleteI always tell people, mostly Americans, that if they don't have snow in NYC this time of year why would you think people in TO live in an igloo?! (You'd be shocked how many have asked me about them over the years. I've never seen one.)
No snow? When did that happen?
ReplyDeleteSuch contrasting photos! Only in North country dear neighbor.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny the perceptions people have of some places. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteOf course you would bring forth snow and winter! Nice photo, and something I have in the back of my mind as our days are getting shorter each day and it's only August! I like the days of long daylight way into to the evening. Great photos.
ReplyDeletewere the cormorant nests around lake simcoe?
ReplyDeleteYou are surrounded by beauty.
ReplyDelete=)
That's funny people think there's snow in the summer.
