 Canada: the Great White North

N is for NORTH

Occasionally people cross the Canadian border in summer from the U.S. thinking they have only a few more miles to travel NORTH to find ice and snow. I know NONE of you, dear bloggers, think we are covered in ice year-round, but some visitors bring their snowmobiles over the border  hoping to use them during their summer holidays.

Jacket or sweater weather is about as cold as it gets here where I live NORTH of Toronto, where this year it has felt a lot cooler than usual. Yes, it has been cool but NOTICE there's NO snow.

    Really? People bring their snow mobiles in summer? I think they must have elevators that don't go all the way to the top! You found some beautiful shots for North!

    The first picture is interesting. Wonder what's in the big yellow box? I think those people who come across must be thinking of Alaska! Beautiful lake scenes!

    I had to laugh about bringing snowmobiles in the summer. When I first moved to Indiana, from Tennesse...I had a few people asked me if I had ever heard rock-n-roll. I am still amazed at that one.

    Oh I am not quite ready for that Northern weather yet. We are experiencing a rather cool August here in New England and that is plenty cold enough for me for now.

    Great post, I know Canada only as a very hot, mosquito rich and sunny country, we was there from late July to August. A surprise were the vineyards.

    That's so funny. People think they'll find snow on their summer vacations. It's kind of like my mother-in-law thinking we'd get snow in Houston when it snowed in Amarillo, but that's 800 miles from us. Texas is big. We've got a semi-tropical climate.

    Yeah. Make someone from the U.S. pack a passport and they think they're really going foreign. I suppose there are those who want to go ice fishing in summer, too.

    You'd think with the internet, people would be more informed of the climate where they're visiting. Wow. Lovely photos of the sunrise (or is it sunset?). Wish I could visit there. It's hot as blazes here right now.

    I spent many a summer on Lake Simcoe growing up! Beautiful sunset. Err if we had snow her all year, you can bet your snow mobile I'd be out of here!

    People really bring their snowmobiles over during summer? That is too funny. Where I live, we wouldn't know what to do if it ever snowed or iced up. There would be chaos on the roads. Very nice photos!

    LOL I hear ya.
    I always tell people, mostly Americans, that if they don't have snow in NYC this time of year why would you think people in TO live in an igloo?! (You'd be shocked how many have asked me about them over the years. I've never seen one.)

    Of course you would bring forth snow and winter! Nice photo, and something I have in the back of my mind as our days are getting shorter each day and it's only August! I like the days of long daylight way into to the evening. Great photos.
