Grown into wire fence
I think it's fascinating the way trees will grow around wire fencing. This wire fence appears to have been erected after the trees were planted.
Piece of tree trunk
Top and bottom of the trunk has been cut off.
Cut off a few feet above the ground
I am linking to Good Fences HERE.
A fascinating piece of natural art and a great find.
ReplyDeleteWow. I have never seen such a thing before. Very interesting.

That is some tree and fence art there CameraGirl! We definitely have barbed wire that the trees when used as posts just grew right over the wire!
ReplyDeleteSo which do you think came first, the tree or the fence?
ReplyDeleteNature's art; is there anything more beautiful?
ReplyDeleteTrees and water do what they like. We just sit back and watch and sometimes cut. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteSuch a great piece of art!
ReplyDeleteGood grief....how fun is this. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the way these remnants look... quite stark.
ReplyDeleteThese images brought back fond memories of a house we formerly lived in - had trees from the original owner growing through the fence. And yes, we ended up cutting a few, as well. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting on my Good Fences #22.

Interesting....great find!!
ReplyDeleteFascinating.
ReplyDeletebtw My husband has spotted a very young cedar along the fence line that he will be moving.
Yeah, that is so interesting, isn't it! Great photos1
ReplyDeleteYes, I love this beautiful art on the fence! Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeletehaha. we have some of those around here, too. just yesterday, coming back from town, had to do a double-take to see what was hanging off a fence - yup, grown-in tree parts. :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen trees and fences in some places like this before. Shows how tenacious nature can be: I'll grow, despite you, dammit!!
ReplyDeleteJust amazing pictures!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is too funny! I've seen trees grown around trail sign when out hiking.
ReplyDeleteI had a tree and fnce like this but I cut the fence and let the tree
ReplyDeletegrow!:)
What a fascinating find!
ReplyDeleteI've had that happen to me EG, some mature plants get really 'attached' and hug the fence :)
ReplyDeleteNature always finds a way!

ReplyDeleteI am always fascinated by the things that nature creates. This was a nice find.
ReplyDeleteit is fascinating how they do it, but not when it does it. we had one do this to our fence, and bob cut it off down to the ground, it came back even taller than it was in the beginning.... this one looks like it will not be back though. i like the left over piece hanging up in the top
ReplyDeleteGreat, brings back memories of problems we had with small trees doing this on our fencing in Italy!
ReplyDeleteThey sure do love growing against fences!:) I have a hard time cutting them down. In one area, I actually cut around the tree so that the tree could branch out.
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly unusual!Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by...Janey
I have a wisteria tree/shrub that has grown into the holder I put next to it so it would stand up but I fear it damaged the tree, although it still blooms every year but does not have lots of blossoms.
ReplyDeleteCool, but I wonder why the tree was cut down.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how nature adapts.
ReplyDeleteThats a great find!
ReplyDeleteNature is amazing, great find!
ReplyDeleteWe have a few like that behind our house in the baseball field. So interesting!! Great pics and addition to the fence meme.
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic to see how tree can grow.
ReplyDeleteNature is strong!
ReplyDeletePoor tree picked a bad spot to grow! Neat fence find, great shot!
ReplyDeleteIt is fascinating. But it's also sad in a way...
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, no damage to the fence!

I really like these photos . . . Like the interesting determined tree growth . . .
ReplyDeleteIt is really clinging! Here, the tree branches grow into the power lines. The workers just have to leave them alone.
ReplyDeletevery decorative really. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much trees can live through/around and still survive. And amazing the fence is not in worse shape.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never seen trees and fences like this; How unique :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE your title "Natural Additions", EG.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Trees are determined survivors. The ones you feature went to a lot of trouble to grow around the wire.
ReplyDeleteThose were certainly fascinating and interesting to see. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteUsually you don't see such pieces in such a well maintained fence. Perhaps the owner has an artistic sensibility?
ReplyDeleteThat is so odd! It looks like someone tried to cut the tree out of the fence. I'm not sure, though. Nice addition to Good fences!
ReplyDeleteNow this is very cool. At first I thought that was a toad hanging upside down! It's all tree parts.
ReplyDeleteI have a bit of a tree in a fence just like this. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteVery good pictures! Yes, I have seen this happen. Trees will grow into things if they have nowhere to expand. Makes an interesting
ReplyDeletepost.
I would call this a real natural modern art !
ReplyDeleteThe power of growth.
ReplyDeleteI nailed a horseshoe to our Walnut tree so the kid(s) could hang up their ponies. It started with my eldest at 4 yrs old. We lived there 30 years + 4 children and the horseshoe was well used and the tree finally swallowed the whole horseshoe. We were forced out of our little farm by "progress" and my beloved Walnut tree was cut down.

Good thing they trimmed the trees before it brought the fence down.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the ways that trees grow around fences!!
