Z/Alphabe-Thursday

 Donkey at petting ZOO

Z is for ZOO - petting ZOO, actually

Now that most Canadian kids live in urban areas or in towns and villages, farm animals are nearly as exotic to them as animals from Africa and Asia. Only kid-friendly animals usually appear at petting zoos, so children are free to actually touch them gently with their hands.

 Alpaca (I think)

Adults like me find it fun to get up close too.

 Goats and sheep

Even goats and sheep are "foreign" to most Canadians so are great parts of a petting zoo.

Pony

And so are ponies.

  5. You are so right about not seeing the farm animals that my parents took for granted... I love the hair on the alpaca!!

  6. I love your shots of this little petitng zoo, and so fun for the kids to have a chance to be around these animals. You are so right that most urban kids really don't get to see many of these any more.

  20. The alpaca is great!

It's sad to think that kids nowadays don't even know what chicken look like and believe that they come in boxes... My question: what's up with the parents?

  35. I enjoyed the trip to your petting zoo. I'm afraid a lot of kids here don't see a lot of different animals either. We drive past cattle often, but not much else.
