Grey Squirrel
Most of the squirrels in my neighbourhood are BLACK but occasionally a grey squirrel turns up. Apparently they are members of the same family and a mother squirrel can have both black and grey kids. Squirrels in my yard are fun to watch...unless they learn how to jump onto our bird feeders. Then they begin to become BIG piggies and are not welcome.
This one was living in a conservation area where food is so abundant that he/she needs to spend a few weeks attending Weight Watchers, dontcha think?
I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.
Yes, I have mixed feelings about those fellas. Good to watch but not when they wreck the bird feeders or displace our native Red Squirrel of the UK.
ReplyDeleteI have a squirrel proof bird feeder. It has save me a bundle of $$$. I also have a special feeder for squirrels. Black and grey ones here. They are fun to watch when more than one shows up.
ReplyDeleteMr. Chubby is all set for winter, isn't he!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have black squirrels; just fox (red) and grey squirrels.
Should survive the winter if he's not eaten. :-)
ReplyDeleteChubby little cutie.. hmmm! Weightwatchers sounds like a plan, and I'm not talking about the squirrel :)
ReplyDeleteI love how we have the reverse...gray squirrels abound and an occasional black squirrel shows up....we have a black squirrel now and he has been here for at least 2 yrs now.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
ReplyDeleteHa, it is a chunky looking squirrel.. Well fed! I only see the gray squirrels here. Great shot! Thank you for linking up your post. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis devious rascal looks in good shape for the winter!
ReplyDeleteYup, he looks pretty chubby!
ReplyDeleteThat is a healthy squirrel :) I always see gray squirrels and would love to see some black ones around here.
ReplyDeleteNice fluffy tail, that should keep him cosy and warm all winter!
ReplyDeleteI have only seen ONE black squirrel in my entire lifetime. Lucky you to tell us all that you seem them most of all.
ReplyDeleteCute critter share.
And loved your backyard fences on the Bay too!!
I like seeing all the different types and colors of squirrels, each region is so different. ours are all gray but they are so small compared to yours and others i see.
ReplyDeleteOK, this is getting a bit trying.
ReplyDelete(you might want to delete below) I hate squirrels.
BANG!
weigh watchers for Squirrels! Now that did give me a laugh. Great shot. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteCute! They always make me smile. We don't get black squirrels but lots of cousins of this little fella.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the bittersweet thoughts of these dear little creatures. I am beginning to enjoy them more outside of my own yard!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shot of the Squirrel!

Happy Weekend to you
haha saw birdman leave the same comment at revrunner's place today. :)
ReplyDeletebubba's northern cousin! :)
Nice shot! We have gray squirrels where I live.
ReplyDeleteI don't go to the extreme as Birdman but do dislike them for the obvious reason - bird feeder raiding.
ReplyDeleteOr when they get in your attic and start nesting there! It's hard for me to find these guys cute knowing firsthand how much havoc they wreak!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful squirrel! Great photo!
ReplyDeleteLove your squirrel!! There is a family of four that have breakfast, lunch and dinner on the window sill in front of my desk -- yep, we eat together! They dine on seeds and peanuts and I make do with whatever is left!!
ReplyDeleteFine fellow!

This little guy looks a lot like the ones we have here in our yard...albeit a bit chubbier and it has a fluffier tail. Cute though. I've not yet figured out a way to keep these rodents out of a bird feeder! Aargh!
ReplyDeleteYou make me smile ! Even a little fat , it remains a cute little boy !
ReplyDeleteLovely post and a sweet photo :))
ReplyDeleteI love squirrels, and this is beautiful. Regards.
ReplyDeleteThey're adorable, but they can be a pest.
ReplyDeleteI like watching the squirrels as long as they know to leave my feeders alone. We have the grey ones here as well.
ReplyDeleteThe squirrel is awesome! How fun that she can have kids with differenr colors, black/grey.
ReplyDelete:)
We seem to have only gray squirrels in CT and FL. I am no fan of squirrels. I put them up there with gulls and pigeons.
ReplyDeleteIt always seems that the grey ones have such luxurious tails. Love the shot!
ReplyDeleteTina - this baby is a cutie!
ReplyDeletePeace :)
Lovely image!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI think hes cute :)
ReplyDeletea cute one that looks healthy. Strange but I have not seen many sqirrals at all this year :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie, and he does indeed look very well fed! :-)

I think I've expressed my feelings about squirrels to you before:
ReplyDeletecure but cunning creatures.
And they once destroyed my roof and kitchen ceiling.
