Warning

Private, Keep Out

Sometimes signs beg me to disobey. Sadly I usually do obey, though.  Do you?

I am linking to Good Fences HERE.

  1. With that gorgeous view, it's really a challenge to obey the sign! :D

  3. I'm of the mind that no beaches ought to be in private hands.

  4. Makes me glad I live in Sweden where we have The Right of Public Access. Interesting facts here.

  5. Very often there is a very good reason for a sign like that. it could be dangerous or birds could be nesting. great fence thought for this meme

  6. That shouldn't be allowed on a beach. Beaches should be public places and not privately owned. Interesting fence shot.

  7. Great photo!
Yes, I usually obey the signs and maybe that beach could be dangerous...

  8. Hmmm, what a confusing sign. It seems that if you went to the other side of the fence that you would be behind it.

  9. Great picture of the beach!
I read this sign as if I was on the wrong side. But how do I get behind the fence? Climb over it? ;) :D
    Have a fine day

  10. I agree with Revrunner
however obey because of what Margaret said

  11. I obey the signs. You just don't know exactly why it was put there. Margaret has made a very good point.

  12. I obey them but i don't want to and it makes me want to go behind the fence in this one...

  13. Mostly I obey and I definitely don't climb fences.

  14. I guess the property owner really means business. The sign and fence sure spoil the view.

  15. Yep, I obey usually...though sometimes when I'm hiking at parks and by the river it's hard to tell which side of the old fences is state property and which private.

  16. I do have to agree with the notion that beaches should be public access, unless, of course, there's a bird or turtle nesting area that must be left isolated.

  17. i'm with revrunner...sadly i watched anthony bourdain in jamaica and all the big resorts can own the beaches and make them private...there are only like 2 public beaches left...nowhere for the natives to go...how sad is that?

  18. Perhaps that contraption beyond the fence is dangerous. Can't quite figure out what it is. In the case of possible danger I would keep out and here in Florida you could get shot trespassing, so I usually weigh the pros and cons before I fail to follow the instructions on a sign.

  19. Not that many private beaches here EG, but I have to confess I don't always follow the rules, some shots are worth the risk :)

  20. Yep- most of the time I obey too :)

  21. Yes, I'm obedient and respect private property, but, my camera can zoom pretty good. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. i don't make a habit of trespassing in texas. :)

  23. Usually,I respect private property, but I do not understand why should be private beach!

  24. I always want to know why they don't want you there. But, I never find out.

  25. yes, taht is a bad thing.

If I´m not wrong in Sweden nowadays beaches is always open for everybody to use. Unlss it is a factory or old property.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh it depends. If I can't go in there, my camera lens just might.

  27. I know what you mean. I came across a beach with a similar sign when we went to Florida fencing the beach off neatly. Felt like walking down to the water and going around it. Felt like it but didn't ;()

  28. I don't get private beaches. Heck, it's the ocean!

  30. I always liked to think that the beaches belonged to all of us as a part of our country/state, but then I'm known as a "liberal" and a number of people would disagree with me, I'm certain. Terrific capture as always!! Enjoy your day!!

  31. There is probably good reason for the sign. At least, the fence does not obscure the view.

  32. If it says 'Private Property,' I most definitely obey. I'm a firm believer in property rights. Actually, I can't think of a sign I don't obey. Oh. maybe the one that said 'no photography' at Orchestra Hall. I did take a quick, non-flash photo of the stage before people started flooding in to the auditorium. So far, the police haven't shown up at my door.

  33. Best to err on the side of caution!

  34. Mostly I do try to obey, but must admit there have been times when I 'chose" not to see the sign.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would obey but I sure don't like that sign! Isn't it the case that if you are walking along in the water, that is public property? The private part starts at the water's edge.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Usually yes, especially when there seems to be a good reason to obey it! Nice capture!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Nice view, but shame about the sign!

    ReplyDelete
  38. So someone owns that whole beach? SO unfriendly...

    ReplyDelete
  39. when it comes to danger or bad weather,I prefer to obey. Nice mood on the pic anyway.

  40. Like I often say, give me a rule and I will keep it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow I've never seen that before on a beach.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'll obey though the words "Private Property" make me kind of grumpy about it. It says to me "Hey, it's MINE! Stay out!" Moreso than, "be safe, stay out."

  43. Sometimes they can be a challenge to obey signs. Love the beach scene shot!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think they mean it, so I would probably obey!

    ReplyDelete
  45. It seems strange to me that the beach side of the sign would be private property. If that sign were here I'd think it had been turned around. I'd have to know a lot more about the area before I decided to disobey a sign like that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. In Texas? Yes, I obey the no trespassing signs.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sorry to be late commenting.
Yes I do obey the signs.
But I could see why you wouldn't want to. A beach should be enjoyed by all.
