Kirkfield Lift Lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway
The waterway will open on May 15th so, as you can see, we beat the crowds. Truth be told, we drove to the lock in a car so didn't need to use the lock to be lifted (or lowered) to the other side of the waterway.
The Kirkfield Lock is is one of two lift locks in Ontario and fun to watch when it's it in operation. Last Saturday I was happy to enjoy the reflections in the water and the blue sky above.

This was a place I used to take my kids to watch the boats go up and down.

ReplyDeleteQuite a different kind of lock than the ones on the Rideau system. I've crossed the Trent-Severn system numerous times, but haven't really followed its course.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by the locks and would love to see them "in person"!! Your pics, as always, are the next best thing!! And, as always, thanks for sharing the fun! Hope you have a great new week!! Enjoy!
