Stairway down to the Lake's edge
Some of the land on the at the edge of Lake Simcoe is quite a bit higher than the lake. This photo was taken on Tuesday the 14th. Yes, there's still ice on the lake.
Private, so I did not walk down
FYI: The owner's house is on the other side of the road.
I am linking to Good Fences HERE
Peacefull photos
ReplyDeleteI imagine that's a nice walk down to the water, shame it's privately owned!
ReplyDeleteI don't see any No Trespassing sign. I still would have done what you did and show respect.
ReplyDeleteIce still on the lake?? Wow.
Wow, I would think the ice melted by now.. This is crazy weather.. What a pretty spot by the lake.. Great shots! Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lovely place, and it stand private also ...
ReplyDeleteBrrr, we are way ahead of you on Spring. "Private" signs always make wonder but I understand how the owners feel.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great stairway to the lake and how lucky these people are. It does still look pretty cold out there!
ReplyDeleteI could sit on those steps for hours, with a view like that!!!!
ReplyDeleteA good entry for Good Fences!
ReplyDeleteOh boy I love the look of the water, its colours, the leftover ice...
ReplyDeleteI hope people do obey the sign like you did?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fence and railing. Not to mention how great the view is too.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot.
Have a nice day.

This disparity between the water's edge and the land occurs frequently along our Atlantic coast. And there are lots of steps with signs just like this. I think you could have safely ignored it. If someone caught you, you just say "What sign?"
ReplyDeleteWhat a view! The lake looks so large, icy and cold.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Looks like a nice place to live--a person could make a lot of memories fishing on that lake in the summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they were tired of passersby tramping through their property. How wonderful to have your own private beach.
ReplyDeleteour river is full of these private docks, some with signs, but most with a metal gate .. no river access at all for our city, and they have signs no fishing. us poor folks can't get to the river at all unless we go to one of 4 boat ramps with a boat.. one of my pet peeves since my hubby would love to fish in that river from the banks...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view and well captured!
ReplyDeleteThe ice made me shiver a little. :)

ReplyDeleteThat scene beckons me to explore...too bad it is private...a shame not to share.
ReplyDeletei bet they get lots of cold wind up there! nice stairway!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wish we could share these places more amicably... such beauty should be free for all.
ReplyDeleteThat sign would not be a great obstacle here...
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have your own beach!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of this fence and the lake. The ice on the lake is beautiful, though I am sure you will be happy when it is gone. I am guessing that Spring is just getting a foot hold where you are. So much to look forward to :)

It is a big lake, after all. It's been a long while since I've been out there.
ReplyDeletePretty neat fence and wood stairway... should be wonderful having private space on lake and beaches shore
ReplyDeleteSuch terrific shots of a beautiful place!! I could enjoy spending a lot of time there -- as long as I had plenty of warm clothes on!! Thanks as always for sharing the beauty!! Hope you're getting ready for a wonderful weekend!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI like this lake shot with the wooden stairway. Ya, still some ice here too, in spots.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful view!

ReplyDeleteLake Simcoe; one of the RG's favorite place to ice fish.
ReplyDeleteA truly lovely entry way to the water, for them! We have a few places with such signs too, but if you wander around far enough you can usually find a public opening and of course we use it!
ReplyDeleteI like the heavy rope fencing. It must be a lovely spot in the summer.
ReplyDeleteIce? Yikes!
ReplyDeleteThose stairs are asking to be stepped down! :-) Beautiful setting.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the fence/steps leading down to the beach. Ice still....brrr.
ReplyDeleteit must be a beautiful area below.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots! The ice is finally off the ponds around here. Yours will be gone soon, too.
ReplyDeleteA person would have to be really really rich to own a whole lake!! Or the property around it.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that there is still ice, EG!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quiet pictures.
ReplyDeleteAll the nice things are private... sigh!
Greetings from Germany
Wonderful picture! To bad it's private.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous view..how much longer before the ice melts? Is it normal for people to own stairs down to the beach- I guess the road cuts through their property? I would be wanting to get on the beach!!
ReplyDeleteSo much ice ! Spring will arrive soon..
ReplyDeleteIt may be private, but it still allows you to get some really good pictures.
ReplyDeleteIce on the lake...how neat. Great photos for good fences! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteA great shot and it sure looks icy cold there! Brrrrr.......we have snow and cold here today and tomorrow. I am so done with winter but it apparently is not done with us. I understand does private property signs. But it would be fun to know what's back there.! ENjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that there is still ice there. Nice images!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view!
ReplyDeleteWhat a prime piece of property! Nice little fenced entryway down to the beach.
ReplyDeleteImagine owning your own private piece of lakeside land.. cannot believe the snow is still hanging around EG!
ReplyDeletethese images are wonderful but i detest private/no trespassing signs!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely and beautiful images, I love a lot.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I can see the ice and snow :)
I am surprised by the snow, great framing of fences here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenes but a shame you couldn't explore. I really like the composition of the second image.
ReplyDeleteI don't like it that the lakefront can be "privately" owned. It should be open to all to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLovely. My ex-brother-in-law's family has a cabin on a lake. They eventually built a long stairway down to the cabin.
